Just awesome. As the Humbe Linux Bundle have shown there is big potential in the Linux desktop market for games. Many games are already working just fine in Wine. As you can see in the WineHQ[1] there are 3333 Platinum, 2878 Gold and 2468 Silver rated applications and games (Platinum and Gold means they are working out-of-the-box with Wine).
In the interest of full disclosure (since I've been burned by this before) the ratings (set by users) are sometimes inflated. I've run across a few games in the past where someone rates it Platinum, but they include instructions on how to compile Wine with some patch (Mouse input fixes if I remember correctly.) IMHO, having to recompile Wine with special patches not included in the trunk is not a Platinum title. Now, this happens rarely (perhaps a few percentage points) and it's not supposed to happen, but it does.
I just rebuilt my "game computer" and was trying to think of a name for it. Since Steam was the only application I'd be installing on Windows 7... "SteamBox" was all I could think of.;)
They do have a "10 foot" interface on the way as well... so I don't think it's too hard to imagine that Valve wants to be on your TV. If they can do it with Linux, they can avoid licensing costs from sticking with a Windows Kernel.
That same picture is in the second link of the summary... it's also the source for that story and the origin of the photo and quotes. I don't know what else that link has that the second link does not already describe.... besides ads.
Where automated car systems tend to fall apart is when their sensor systems can't get the data they want (which is explicitly opposite of how aircraft are designed, automated aircraft systems are very much about working when the pilot can't get the information s/he needs), or when there is something like construction, which the car cannot interpret. Aircraft of course fail badly (see the air france crash from brazil to paris) when the sensors start getting bad data.
Makes me wonder what the car would do with a large plastic bag flying toward it and possibly getting stuck over the laser sensors.
Then you get that hollow feeling like I do with my automatic vacuum cleaner. I just got one of those Neato models with the LiDAR. I constantly ask: Did it make it to the charging station? Is it stuck in my bedroom again? There have been a few times when it got stuck and just gave up. I couldn't imagine waiting an indeterminate amount of time to have your car pull up to get you with the wife/gf also waiting.
Some states you can be arrested for DUI simply by sleeping in your car if you put the keys in the ignition to keep warm. They consider it intent to drive.
I read both articles and I couldn't find reference to this "Rich people will change the laws for themselves"... so yes, I'd agree that the summary was quite baiting.
Supposedly, you wouldn't accelerate to 4000 mph fast enough or take sharp enough turns to impact the rider much... and most likely, you wouldn't be hitting 4000 mph unless you were travelling very far distances.
You wouldn't need to be raped by hobos if you didn't have an entire freaking train setup to do this. I don't understand why the system can't be designed to use small "taxi" pods where you and your friends can be ferried to many more points in the line without having to rely on where the majority of your train wants to be or stopping for someone else along the way.
Not to mention, if a terrorist really wanted to fly a plane into something else... they could just do it on a private jet which has no TSA screening. Heck, even a small craft (unmanned anymore) loaded with explosives could take off from any number of airports in the US and cause a tremendous amount of damage.
I think it does. The Internet and hyper-linking is changing the way we consume information in just about every field. I recently ran across this video (ironically playing right into what he's stating) that describes the same phenomenon with scientific publication: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHuC5yZeHYQ
The Bible has it's fair share of questionable text. So...to be fair, it all depends on who reads and teaches the document. If you read any book as the truth and fact, you are in for a very dark world. One thing I've learned about religion in general is that you have to take the words with a grain of skepticism to even start to be a rational person. (I've chosen to flow on the side of non-belief myself, but whatever.)
Hell, there's a Vizio Co-Star that even supports DLNA streaming unlike any other Google TV Box I'm aware of... and it's $99. It also has On-Live capability, but I couldn't care less about that.
Because people work around locked bootloaders and/or replace them all the time? People have custom ROMs working all all variety of Droid 4... just not a fully functioning CM9. The closest version has little/no bluetooth/gpu acceleration/camera support.
Sure, but who's to say they don't drive it from Chicago to Vegas and leave it there. Who pays for your airline ticket to pick up your car?

Making it illegal to pass on the right would only bring out the utter trolls of drivers doing 60 (in a 65) in the left lane.

I've had Ohio and Illinois State Officers tell me 6-8 miles over the limit... Anything under that they don't ticket unless you are driving erratic.

Eventually your organs catch up to your body just like your body catches up to the train.

Wouldn't that just make things float?
I knew the Meson's had something to do with it... all their secret handshakes and Illuminati ties.
It's all about technology and how we can insulate ourselves from having to communicate or gasp! interact with other people.
But... we are communicating and interacting right now.

I never would have thought that the Droid4 is not a fully supported phone, but I'm still waiting for CyanogenMod...
