This is yet another reason that USA appears to have lost its way. FTFA "But as the Journal reported, Congress' "partial funding" for the program in "a little-debated $634 billion spending measure," "
Now assume for a second that this funding figure is correct, (the article reads a little like one of those conspiracy theory types are writing it) WTF is congress thinking?
The country is in meltdown that will NOT be stopped, the healthcare system is screwed (I am waiting for our system in Australia to fall that far) and congress thinks it is ok to spend that sort of money on spying on people?
I cheered when the first bailout bill failed. I hoped that it represented an outbreak of common sense. I hoped that the bailout would save the little guy, but NOT the banks.
This is the result of needing to have increasing profit, needing to have ways to make money that have ZERO actual use to the economy/population (they don't create anything, they don't help anyone, they just exist for people to gamble to make money)
Take a step back, large debt is bad. Always needing growth will eventually bite back.
To be on topic, this kind of spending seems to be indicative that NO lessons have been learned OR that the common man is as truly helpless as the "fat cats" seem to think
Man, people go so excited about the whole "double blind testing thing" Whups? Maybe I meant blind testing and mis-typed? Jeeze, take a chill pill!
Oh, have you noticed that a dyno DOESN'T replicate real world driving? Ever watched the hoons come out of a "dyno day" and see them struggle to get their cars to idle or drive without bucking? Maybe that is because dyno's don't represent real world driving, just a very small subset in controlled conditions that never exist in the real world?
I do however like how you dismiss my points (rightfully on the double bit) yet don't bother to back up the science behind the claims.
The claim is that smaller droplets = better fuel economy. Here is the real issues for you. 1. If it makes such a difference, why aren't car makers doing it already? Maybe because the atomisation is already pretty good? 2. There is no testing done to reproduce these results from independent sources 3. Why didn't he just heat up the fuel? That lowers the viscosity?
Look, it might make you happier to think that this is going to make a difference. It may also make you happier to see someone correctly using the term "double blind" It doesn't change the fact that this is snake oil. Make me a wager and when I collect I swear I won't say "I told you so"
1. Snake oil. 2. Fuel injectors do a pretty good job atomizing fuel 3. Modern cars do not need another random electric field 4. Where is the double blind testing?
I have used D2D and found it to be fine. I don't know why people are complaining about DRM, If I want the game on another computer I d/l it again?
Or did I miss something?
DRM is only crap where it stops you using the software for its intended purpose. In this case, playing the game. If you can play the game and re-install it later, what is the issue? (not root-kits etc)
And you don't live in Australia (obviously)
Banks will charge you for overdrawing your account ($30) then tell you they won't stop the DD because the company who has the DD auth said it was ok.
THEN they will tell you that they CAN'T stop your account being overdrawn. Yes you DID read that correctly.
I would have thought that kind of news would have been on their website. Nope. Other cool stuff in there R&D section, plus an apology for an accident..
So whats up? Slow website admin or is this one of those "articles" that appear on slow news days?
..he was caught out fabricating data, rather than letting the data the "didn't fit the curve" go unreported. Check out any medical research you like, you don't need to fabricate, just obscure... I love the research that shows a certain food additive killed mice who were predisposed to cancer (the cancer went wild) BUT didn't harm healthy mice. Simple logic thus tells us it is safe to eat. And we do. I will remember what the additive is.. I think you can put it with mashed up meat and the meat "gels together" to form nice steaks...
They don't think this measure will have any effect do they?
Really?
I have a MUCH better suggestion.
Don't send them out. It is a win/win situation.
No-one gives them bad reviews and they strike a blow against piracy!/cough/
Spend more time thinking about how to make a movie I want to buy, then make it a reasonable price...
The Mythbusters said it was busted (if memory serves) because they couldn't reproduce the results in a way that the original death-ray could have been constructed. The MIT geeks concluded that it COULD have been possible IF there was sufficient mirrors EXACTLY focused for an EXTENED period of time WHILE there was no clouds... Here are my issues, in no particular order.
Mirrors in that day and age would have been average, to say the least. It has been shown that trying to get people to aim at the same time is virtually impossible. For the soldiers to be able to aim this thing, they must have been quite far away (otherwise previous comments about bows and flaming arrows would apply..) and therefore the quality of the mirrors combined with the distance would make focusing almost immposible (diffusion etc).
It is pretty clear that while it is POSSIBLE it is highly improbable. Kinda like cold fusion.... (not sure wether that last comment helped my cause or not..:) )

Persistence is fine, as long as you don't let NPC's die. I predict that the world will be emptied within a week.
