Rember going to the museum, and you and a friend would sit in a dish shaped object and talk real quitly and you could hear other as clear as day. You could build somekind of a high speed modem, to link you and your friend. I dont think the FCC could say much about it either, because you not useing part of the electromagentic spectrum. As for going through the other people yards, offer to hook them up to network and let them have free internet access (I am assuming one of you have brodband access), I know that if someone offered me free internet access and all I had to do is to let them bury a cable across by backyard I would say yes in a heart beat. Also I would assume that your overall cost of living is higher than in the US. Thus if you where to make both of these factors equal fuel prices would be about the same. I wish diesel was more popular here in the US, it is much more effenict that gas engines, but the only to get a diesel here in the US is to buy at least a 3/4 ton truck. I wish we could get smaller veichels with diesel engines. That way I could have a small truck that gets 30 to 40 mpg.
