Sounds like MS might be developing a portable mp3/wm(av) player. Attempt at an ipod killer?.......... Mtv and MS, sounds like a scary combination! Imagine the super DRM powers vista will inherit as a result.
the reason to legitimately purchase music is getting smaller and smaller with every one of these offenses. Sony, I will not honor your rights if you refuse to honor mine!
Slightly offtopic, but I've had this problem with a compaq presario 6000 awhile back. The problem was the caps were mounted too close to the northbridge heatsink (which runs unusually hot) and they began leaking electrolytic fluid onto the motherboard creating a mass of other problems. Thankfully the damage was not too severe, all it took was some old caps from the junk box, some wires and it was fixed. They are now resting comfortably in between the PCI slots. I've seen other compaq presario 6000's do this too so if you own one, pop it open and check the caps just below the northbridge heatsink, if the tops are puffed out, remove them, replace them, and relocate them and the board should survive.
This is great news for everyone outraged over sony's deceptive practices. Hopefully, this will send a message to all major record labels who may be considering similar tactics. There is no justification for sony's actions and it's great to see people standing up for what's right. Please, everyone back up your bmg cd's and toss them into a public bonfire and join the boycott!
I never thought i'd imagine two different internets which are incompatible with eachother, I suppose that's the reason why us hackers exist. "To circumvent government stupidity."
America - "But it's my toy, YOU CAN'T PLAY WITH IT!"
Personally i'm sooo sick of hearing about this, and i'm sure many other people are aswell. Honestly, what does America have to loose by giving other countries a peice of the pie? It's not like our economy will be destroyed simply because of no revenue from DNS registration, Bush is a greater threat to the economy anyway. I see two things happening, one - America refuses to relinquish control and foreign powers form an alternate DNS system, resulting in a fractured internet (and/or patent infringement lawsuits). Or two - America gives control and subsequently deploys internet2 just to be different/stubborn. Either way there's going to be a fracturing of the internet, or America will end up nuking every foreign server and pc in existence.
It's good to see companies taking interest in helping Linux (which is strange coming from me) Standardizing certain things in Linux can help newcomers to less-dependantly setup and customize their OS. When I first started using Linux, certain things like the location of shared libraries, INIT runlevels (Debian), source compilation, and startup scripts used to cause me headaches when trying to do simple things like disable graphical login. If I was not so determined to migrate to Linux, I probably would still be using only windows, one determined enough to scour google and linuxquestions.org can learn alot about how the OS works internally and externally. Standards can help keep new, less determined users from dumping Linux in that it will be easier for them to do what they want while having to do less studying and independant troubleshooting. Hopefully standardization will help to increase usability of Linux without too many negative effects, but the beauty of open source is the OS can quickly recover if too many problems occur. Linux will survive!
The Linux kernel has been successfully ported to the Antikythera mechanism, The highly distilled version of the kernel reportedly can boot in under 160 years and the process also effectively builds large amounts of forearm muscle in the process. Linuxworld.com calls it the perfect marrige between grassroot technological history and modern innovation, Steve Jobbs is currently preparing to manufacture a mini version of the Antikythera mechanism which will eventually make it's way into every Apple product. Microsoft has called the Antikythera mechanism the most astonishing technologinal innovation the world and microsoft have ever seen, Bill Gates said in an interview, "It's changing the way we have looked at computer technology completely, throughout the entire reign of microsoft we have never even considered this master-designed technology!"
In light of all this downloading of media, and the already accumulated billions of dollars the media companies have, why not invest in manufacturing blank CD's to recover "lost" revene? They are already accelerating the loss of revenue by spending so much on these lawsuits, if they show intrest in manufacturing recordable media, they could actually make money off of the `evil` downloaders.
(lost revene == no new leir jet for the CEO of BMG)

Pestpatrol ad/spyware remover now detects and removes sony's DRM rootkit hats off to eTrust for that.

George W. Bush is secretly patented for breakthroughs in stupidity and frequent mispronunciation of the word nuclear.
