    What happens if they go completely bankrupt and you can't get the stock anywhere anymore? I was kind of wondering the same thing with Iridium several years back when their stock was flying high and dropped to nothing after becoming bankrupt.

    That's not the issue. The issue is that we need to call them out on it every chance that we get. If you just dismiss it casually because they'll do it anyway, worse things will happen.

    Now that Mac OS X (some versions at least) has been certified as "Unix", Apple is also now selling "Unix." But then again all of these companies are basically selling hardware and services with the Unix part thrown in.

    No, they may not be the latest fancy 3D games, but classic games have something the latest games totally lack: gameplay. Modern games have plenty of "gameplay" (which is itself a rather meaningless term). Halo vs. Joust. Guildwars vs. Q*bert. I know what I would pick.

    That's not an invalid question. GPUs nowadays are programmable enough that they're being used for general purpose computing. The question is, are current graphics cards general purpose enough to be able to actually run their own operating system? If so, which ones can currently do that?

    Why admit that you have them? So that you can tell the media of shady police shenanigans. Otherwise no one else would know these things occur. This should hopefully make the police more careful not to do such things next time. And it will alert regular citizens that such things can happen so beware when the police take your stuff.

    You sure about that? "Couldn't care less" means that you can't go any lower in caring about something, whereas "could care less" means that you do care about something because you could go lower in your caring but have chosen not to. I think people just don't quite understand the meanings between these two phrases.

    Another huge issue? Farmers feeding their livestock anti-bacterial drugs to make them grow bigger. WTF??? And this is fully endorsed by veterinarians. So our meat supply is also breeding anti-biotic resistant bacteria. Our society is so stupid with regards to this dilemma...

    Why was parent modded flamebait? The GP post really was lame and poorly adapted to the current crop of Apple computers. Perhaps because he stated that "the old Mac OS sucked"? Well, back then it did for many reasons including that it wasn't even a preemptive multitasking OS.

    Although, since the OS is just there to boot and allow access to data, I was thinking of using a 1GB CF card to put the OS on. I like the RAID 1 setup the instructions are easy to follow, but how about other RAIDs?
