A large company, which you can freely do business with, can buy in bulk too. It, unlike a government, cares how much it pays for things, because it isn't given as much money as it wants to take.
Government inefficiency and corruption will take away any advantage of it buying in bulk, not to mention your freedom in choosing what you want and where you want to get it from.
Why should there be such a license? Sure, Lincoln "Navigators" and the like are sort of irritating (in that they are never used for, and probably aren't capable of, navigating rough terrain), but why should you have to need an SUV to get one? Why not require people get the cheapest kia/hundai, w/o air conditioning or anything else unnecessary? That's all most people "need".
The news in this is that companies are finding profitable ways to recycle. This will cause an increase in recycling, which is good. Why does an organization doing something good have to be in it only for that, and without any thoughts to their own gain?
Wouldn't you rather buy services yourself, instead of having someone take your money, and let someone who has no idea who you are decide what you need, and then buy it with your money?
Why do citizens suffer when you cut taxes and cut services? They can then use their money to buy said services, and do it a lot better than some random guy in an office.
If you want your money invested in something worthwhile, invest it. Why would you want it to be taken from you and invested in whatever organization has the best lobbyists or makes a political candidate look good?
If Apple conquers it, it will be called iMoon.
If Microsoft conquers it, it will be called Microsoft Genuine Satellite.
If GNU conquers it, it will be called MOON (MOON Orbiting Our plaNet).
If KDE conquers it, it will be called KMoon.
For reason 1, there are more than two candidates. Third parties/independents don't often win, but it is better than not voting at all. If all of the nonvoters voted for a third party it would do very well.
For reason 2, read above. Beyond that, politicians are "owned" as much by unions, special interest groups, and religious groups as corporations. You likely have an irrational dislike of corporations. It is very similar to people on the right and left saying that the other side controls the media.
For reason 3, read above. If the main political candidates haven't talked about anything you care about, then you don't care about economic freedom, civil liberties, or foreign policy.
If someone cares but doesn't vote, then they are ridiculously lazy. Generally non voters are apathetic.
The thief didn't reinstall the OS, so apparently that is a good assumption.
Make them pay for what they took?
So how do they get paid when people steal all of their music?
It is still theft, even if the people who lose out are artists and executives. If everyone pirated music, then there would be far less.
I do. Because if they don't offer it, then people will buy from someone else, and they won't make as much profit. And as you said, they want profit.
Do you think that even if you could get things slightly cheaper, it would be worth the loss in freedom?

they're prone to failure
That's why you always use floppies in a RAID array.

Let people get the car they want.
Me too. I've got a RAID array of floppies totaling 4TB. It beats a HD any day.
I wonder how many fights broke out over text editors. "Emacs is better!" "Vim is better!" "?"

ed pwns nano.
You've really never met someone who didn't care?

IE isn't installed on Macs, and hasn't been for a while. You can't even get it from Microsoft anymore.
It is fixed.
Why not assembly code? Binary?
If you can write a bot that automatically writes all the code they want, you should win all the money.
Maybe they want to be able to read the code you've written, or perhaps they don't want their entire search engine rewritten on one line.
Maybe if you were really good you could win everything.
No it doesn't. Being 1% lower wouldn't be very significant.
They are relicensing it to their own license, which is like GPL, but with this clause. They're being hypocritical jerks, but doing it legally.
The 3897th one.
