  1. Take notes all.. on Google Releases AJAX Framework · · Score: 3, Interesting

This is great news for all the developers out there. Google by doing this has proved once again that smart business practices and investments make a company, now how much software they patent and lock down. They specfically say that you can create applications like Google Maps and Gmail using their framework. Is someone gonna create a new Gmail or seach engine and take over Google? Prolly not, but Google has shown that not only can it develop high power applications and set the footprints for following developers, but they can also help the community advance just as they have. Just one of the many reasons I love Google.

Thats the hardest part I found and why I keep with XP is becuase of the trouble and time it takes to get the wireless and simple video playback to work right.

It has come a long way but still has a long way to go before it can be come a big player in the desktop market.

A lot of university file sharing networks are on public ips and that is why many have gotten caught. Schools such as my own have a firewall and no external connections can be made to our internal network (including ftp servers and the file sharing network) without either the vpn client or being on campus. our wireless is locked down too with our university logins. In campus network policy, running a hub, server, etc is still in violation, however, the point was made above with a student ratting them out and being in trouble for catching packets and running unauthorized (RIAA) software on the network to catch traffic. I dont think anything would be in voilation of the university code to state that a person is however running the network and allowing the RIAA to suponea the university on that account alone.

It seems like a false hope really, I mean how many serious groups are posting terror plans on the internet? Would having the Taliban's website helped prevent 9/11? The answer is no. I think its better performance wise to have more rows than columns. I develop a lot of PHP/MySQL applications, comerically and OSS and I find that using multiple small tables with more rows seems to load and run smoother than tables with a large number of columns. Maybe something with the indexing but I have no actual proof of what works better. On the original topic, I believe that MySQL has its downfalls compared to other database systems but for me personally, I find that I can work around the problems with it to build highly deployable PHP/MySQL web applications very cheaply.
