I think it's not just links, but also how often people click from Google to the sites as well. If it's more popular, they go higher up. It just makes sense.
I think there has always been a pre-planned plot arc. The problem is that there is so much fluff (much like the original show) that it's hard to see it. You could cut out 2/3 of the eps and still have the same plot. It's one of the few things they kept intact from the original series.
I think Lost has one, too, but suffers from a related problem: Too much backstory and side-story.
The problem with that is the reason the devices aren't using the 1% power they claim: The features of the unit require that power while you're not using the unit.
In the case of TVs, it's updating the channel guide behind the scenes. Shutting off the TV completely when you're not using it will mean the channel guide is almost never updated. Especially when you want it: Right when you turn on the TV.
According to this, afro-american turnout was up 21% and Latino was up 16%... But there's no way to know how many of those new voters were voting simply because it wasn't for a white guy.
It also says that youth turnout was up 9% as well.
As for it being a 'milestone', it definitely is. Yes, MLK would want people to vote for the right reasons, but that doesn't make this any less important.
Let's make this clear: For the first time in history, the President isn't an old white man.
Assuming Obama doesn't screw up royally (and after Bush, how could he?) then people will no longer fear this change. A whole generation is going to grow up with the idea that you can be a minority and be President, instead of the idea that was pounded into our heads: It just can't happen.
Honestly, when it came down to 'black man for president or white woman for vice president' I cheered. I'm happy with either one of those changes setting a precedent. I think what we got was not only the better change, but the better President of the 2 choices.
So this is not only a major milestone, but it's a bigger milestone than I've seen the media making it.
Maybe because, until very very recently, it was totally free to develop in.NET but you had to pay to develop commercial programs in QT? In fact, not long ago, even open source Windows programs in QT required fees. (Linux ones were free.)
The answer is: Yes, it is. FUD is about spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt, in whatever form. Yes, some FUD used to be untrue, but the most effective FUD is completely true. It's the hardest to fight.
Generally, this is done by pointing out the scariest parts of something while neglecting that those and/or other things are just as scary about the competition.
I don't deny that everything you said is 'scary', I just deny that it really matters. If it did matter, I wouldn't keep using those services. I'm perfectly capable of running my own servers for all those things for myself and my family and friends.
"Barely boots"... What? What does this mean? Either it boots or it doesn't. It's like being 'a little bit preggers'.
As for the screen size, you don't want a massive screen on a little tablet PC. I have a 12" tablet right now and other than weight, it's about perfect.
$300 is an okay price. HP has a $350 8.9" laptop with 1.6Ghz processor. If they can afford to do that for a 'real' laptop, I think $300 is a bit on the high side for a laptop that can only run a web browser.
Having said that, I paid $1200 for my tablet and felt I got a really good deal at the time. Previous tablets I looked at were in the $2500 range.
I don't see how your post invalidates my point. Some people believe it is ethically correct to pay people for their art if they enjoy it.
That's not the only reason, of course. Another reason off the top of my head is to show support of the artist and entice them to continue making music... Or in this case, making DRM-free music and treating customers right.
If they could do all that for free, they'd prefer that.
You don't have to be a Shil to post reviews before the movie is out, you just have to be a fanboy. The 'I read the books' comment is definitely by a fanboy.
I used to see a lot of this crap on EBGames.com before they got smart and disabled reviews before the games came out. Now it's called 'Preview Buzz'. You see the exact same comments, but they don't get to provide a rating.
"In which case, they were never going to pay for your software anyway,"
-Everyone- wants to do it for free. It just happens that there are a lot of people too lazy or too ethical to pirate. (And since it's often a lot easier to pirate than buy it legally, there's not much of that.)
Some of the people that pirate don't do it for monetary reasons, and that's what this article is about. By serving those people properly, they've eliminated a lot of piracy that was pointless. Their customers weren't cheap, they were just pissed off!
Sure, for the easy stuff, checkboxes work really well. The problems come when there's new technology, or hackers find a nice new way to tip the balance in their favor. Staying on top of security is a full time job in itself when you work for a large company.
On top of that, putting all the right rules in place doesn't mean a thing if you can't get your employees (including the bosses/owners) to follow it.
Finding potential attack vectors is a lot like egg-sexing. It involves a lot of logic and isn't something that can be taught on paper very well. But unlikely egg-sexing, not everyone can learn it. It takes an innate talent for logic and not everyone has it.
Sadly, the AC is mostly correct. Everyone has brands they love and hate according to how often they've died.
I abhor Maxtor and love WD. I've met other techs that love Maxtor and abhor WD.
It actually just so happens that I'm using a Seagate 320GB in this machine and it's started to act funny lately. I've never had an issue with their drives before, but then... I haven't used them much.
With this report, I may just buy another WD and replace it rather than wait for something to happen.
My first thought was definitely 'oh no'. But then I remembered that Spike is a little quirky anyhow... And very, very rarely do they manage to make a live-action with characters that really match the Anime's.
What I'm most scared of is that they'll try to match the voice acting of the English version, instead of trying to get the tone and attitude of the Japanese version. Voice acting makes a huge difference to the overall feel of the character.
You're ignoring the fact that everyone is going to want Random App X to work on the phone out of the box. If they have to modify each app to work on their special copy of Android, that would be unacceptable to most of their customers.
As the others have noted, it was AUD, not USD. That made the pro $250 plus shipping, which was another $50. $300 for a phone that did (almost) everything I wanted is very reasonable. My last couple phones cost more than that.
Almost: It had no accelerometer. That's a huge feature for me.
lol You caught me. I Added the third one and forgot to increment.
People continue to talk about aliens at Area 51 for 2 reasons:
They are mentally incapable of stopping. (And need help.)
They enjoy it, and think it's entertaining.
They just don't know any better.
All the logic in the world won't stop the first 2 for various reasons. /.
The third just needs to be informed, but you probably won't reach them from

Help the cause, tag this:

I'm sick of seeing it abused, too. When I see that, I expect it to mean the hardware is toast forever. Not for a few minutes. Forever.

Blame QT for that, not the developers.
Damnit. Further proof that wasn't one of the cool kids in school. Nothing like that ever happened to me.

Infect other computers. That's the whole point of putting itself on the USB stick in the first place.
"So javascript init scripts are now yours to have."
I actually screamed a little bit. -sigh-

If it took no effort, you should write one yourself and capitalize on it.
This isn't unique to 'services on the net'. Services -anywhere- are subject to this. Nothing has changed.
What you really mean is 'software running on computers you don't control.'
As as someone already pointed out, this is less of a problem for people who are paying for their service, rather than getting them for free.
So what you really mean is 'software that you don't pay for, running on computers you don't control.'
Why is it such a big surprise that it could go away?
Because technology changes all the time.
Sure, for the easy stuff, checkboxes work really well. The problems come when there's new technology, or hackers find a nice new way to tip the balance in their favor. Staying on top of security is a full time job in itself when you work for a large company.

"Some of the videos may well fit into fair use, but many of them probably do not. "
Here, let's change that a bit and see if it's still okay:
Some of the people definitely didn't commit a crime, but many of them did.
Can you see how wrong that statement is?
Sadly, the AC is mostly correct. Everyone has brands they love and hate according to how often they've died.

Isn't Rodney Dangerfield dead? Hmm... Maybe that's appropriate after all. I wished Ein was dead a lot during that series.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here:
I think he can do it.
