  1. Not really $179 on Google Unveils First Android Phone · · Score: 1

I just ordered mine and they charged me $299 for the phone because I am currently still in a contract. Why bother telling us about the $179 price since they push new phones on you when your contract is up in order to keep you in a contract. If only a very small percentage of your user base is not locked in a contract then its some pretty shady trickery to shove the $179 price down our throats. At least if I pay $299 don't make me still enter an additional 2 year contract. There are various places on the net reporting this, including Android's Forums.

The point of the software is that it doesnt require you to install a program and set up port forwarding on a router. The "server" end can be installed and connects to a proxy where the "client" side can then access the server. Basically, if your friend lives 5 states away and you want to help them, they can EASILY hit a website or load a single application and allow you to access their system. VNC software alone requires that you drive 5 states away to configure the machine first -- or worse, explain to a clueless end user how to install an application and set up port forwarding on a router that they don't even know the password for.

I use VNC a lot... but it just doesnt work in some scenarios like these.

Thank you so much for demonstrating the problem for us. It's now apparent that the iPhones do not understand networks and because it is their belief that ever network is running DHCP. The iPhone will not take no for an answer and all hell breaks lose when there is no DHCP to be found.

Basic math (+, -, X, /) may really not be all that important since us geeks are surrounded by computers that can EASILY do that for us but I can't understand how you can even begin to work with a computer and understand computer logic unless you understand at least the basic principals of algebra.

So a system that is based on 1's and 0's (I checked, those are NUMBERS) suddenly does not require any mathematics to operate?

The worst part about this entire process is that, while it may make sense for a new artist to get substantially less money, in the long run it has nothing to do with how good or well liked the artist is in the general public. The RIAA decides who will make it and who will not. If they want someone to do well, then it is them who get the good $7 promotions at Target, the good advertising spots, and the most airtime on radio stations. OTOH, if they dont want to have an artist do well, that artist is still left to fend for themselves AND pay the RIAA on the off chance that they do make it big.
