I tried two different versions of Ubuntu and they both had different hardware problems that I have couldn't fix (I had no clue how to). Tech forums weren't able to help so I had to uninstall both versions. I've been meaning to download and install the newest (and greatest?) version but I'm not too sure that I really want to since WinXP has been working almost flawlessly for several months now.
I bought a harness for my car stereo at BB with BB Bucks from McDonald's. The sales guy gave me the wrong one so I took it back to exchange it for the correct one. They told me they can't take anything back that was bought with BB Bucks. I didn't want my money back, I just wanted the right harness.
On another occasion, a while back, I bought the Madagascar DVD for my girlfriend when it first came out. It would skip and freeze a lot on my DVD player (it was not a dirty laser on the player), so I tried it on my PC and got the same results. I took it back and said that the DVD was defective, the girl there told me that not all DVDs play on all DVD players and they can't take it back (this was before HD-DVD and Bluray). After a few minutes of trying to explain that the DVD is obviously defective, she finally caved in. The replacement DVD works perfect and never again will I shop there.
I filed a complaint against ATT Wireless with the BBB. ATT would not refund me charges for text messaging that were suppose to be free for a month. A few days after I filed the complaint, an ATT rep called me (about the complaint) and credited my account. I think the BBB does have some teeth.
Don't you mean worse?
Don't PC makers include a recovery partition for Windows machines?

If I remember correctly, this happened in a computer lab on a computer used by students. She walked in the room and thats when she saw the pop-ups.

I would but I hate their return policy. I'll stick with http://www.newegg.com/ and http://www.amazon.com/
Reminds me of the movie V for Vendetta.
