You probably meant to say this, so I'll add it for clarification: Leopard has code that splits up the OpenGL load between all usable processors. This means not only the GPU but the second CPU core as well.

If AMD started adding ATI GPU instructions to their cores, and you get 4 of them on one slot along with the memory controller, what kind of frame rates and graphical shenanigans will happen then?

Well, AMD Fusion looks interesting. Of course, I also hope that we'll still be able to buy them separately, because it's cheaper to upgrade parts as you go, rather than all at the same time.

But the possibilities of a hybrid processor are pretty cool. For example, this type of CPU would be awesome in a home theater PC, cutting in half the number of super-hot, power-hungry chips you have to deal with. And if they scale it down far enough, portable media players and game consoles (i.e. Gameboys) could benefit from this as well.

The only way to support this statement is to reference research that shows an actual statistical trend in favor of said statement. The article you linked to has nothing to do with anything of the sort. Rather it is an opinion piece from a partisan blog. Even worse, it does not relate to your assertion, as the election has not happened yet, and it talks only about this year, not the "long history" you claim.

I was only speculating when I said it before, but now I'm pretty sure: you're just making shit up. I think I'm done here.

The NHL still has lots of fans, but they've been screwed over by the current media reality of static TV channels and the oligarchy that controls them. The Internet (with web two-point-oh) allows them to reach a lot of people, and sites like Youtube are scrambling to find decent content that they can distribute without legal troubles. Somebody at the NHL knows what they're doing. Of course, it will be interesting to see how well it works out.

Aside from LGP, we have developers like Id and Epic, as well as many indie/online groups who now release Win/Mac/Linux versions of their games. Thanks for clearing all that up, even if the info was probably a well-worded query away. As for the tech, it sounds like the hardware devs at MS know what they're doing. I remember a post on Penny Arcade after one of those guys got a high-def set, where the standard upscaling mode threw off Guitar Hero enough to affect gameplay.

As for "requiring things from developers", I was referring to the fact that MS requires (for example) six-channel Dolby sound. Before the 360 was out, I believe there were articles talking about how developers would be required to support some HD spec, however the upscaling hardware pretty much takes care of that.

These days, things aren't as good: fuel prices are higher, war creates uncertainty, the government is deficit spending like mad, globalization is collecting its due, etc, etc.

However, there will definitely be a shakedown sometime in the future. I don't think it will be at the level the dot-bomb was, but it will happen eventually. For example, I have doubts that sites like Myspace will survive the next teen fad, and I really question whether Youtube is worth $1,600,000,000. Of course, stuff like this is part of business: investing is risk. As for me, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show.
