    I can't remember which book it was, I think a William Gibson novel one of the characters made a lot of money exploiting old security exploits on old equipment that the African nations purchased collapsing their economies.

    There are theaters that do just that.

    Here in Austin, TX the Alamo Drafthouse chain of theaters shows lots of rare and obscure films, and they will often pair the movie with appropriate food and drink.

    Bankrupting the enemy was not the strategy, it was having better weapons and more of them, but that did accidentally bankrupt the enemy.

    So the motivation was to have really good weapons and enough of them that we could threaten the USSR enough that they would be too scared to do anything offensively.

    We just happened to bankrupt them when they tried to keep pace, oops, there went that cash cow for the defense industries.

    I have used this method in the past, but with two additional steps that cover your comment.

    Lots of water, but also eat very well and take vitamins with the water. You want the test to find what you just consumed, not what you took last night.

    You are correct about two gallons being close to lethal so not quite that much water.

    I can see Intel doing exactly that, making better chips for TVs, I can't see Intel becoming a content delivery company. It is just so far removed from what they do it doesn't make sense.

    Ok, so lets say that you are driving across a bridge and while you are driving across it it starts to collapse behind you at a certain rate. If at any time you get below that certain rate the collapse catches up to you and you die.

    Yea, I tend to head to news aggragrators such as here or googles news listing.

    For actual news sources, when I have the choice I tend to go for The Christian Science Monitor (their religion may be nuts, but they know journalism) and the BBC. Or if it is a tech related story I try to go with the most relevant tech site for the particular story. I avoid Fox like the plague, their bullshit to truth ratio is horrible.

    In a simmilar way that his credit card legislation didn't result in banks raising fees and interest rates to recoup lost profits.

    They didn't have to raise their fees, they raised their fees because they had an excuse to. If they thought they could charge more before that happened they would have charged more. Just because someone gives a reason as to why they are screwing you over that reason shouldn't be believed, but it should be acknowledged that you are being screwed over.

    Another good reason to block ads is that ads have become one of the major vectors of your computer being infected.

    Especially on small hobby sites. A co-worker's computer was recently infected by a banner ad on a fly-fishing website he visited, while another co-worker was getting infected by ads on a wrestling website....... that he kept on going back to

    The biggest issue will be how do we know this news source is trustworthy.

    The internet is like a bullshit incubator, bullshit gets spread far and wide and the further it is spread the more it is believed.

    A news source that strives to be as objective as possible is extremely valuable to us the consumer, but is at odds with the industry as a whole and therefor how it gets funded is an issue.

    Basic idea was that the more sought after the content and the more restricted the content is, the more it is worth.
