  1. Viral Marketing? on Irish Company Claims Free Energy · · Score: 1

We are jumping out to conclusions even without observing what is actually shown on their site.

    That is:

    • The page is written even for 10 year old reader, with no mathematical formulas, no technical jargon, just a lot of images and some flash animations. All the info available is completely useless from a scientific point of view.
    • This is supposed to be about a research, not a product to be sold: But instead of some researchers we have the Marketing Manager and The CEO Bios on the "Press" Page
    • Look at the website. I swear, it's the nicest website i have ever seen about a white paper. It's clearly made by an exeperienced design firm.It is supposed to be multilanguage, has a newsletter and a forum, and it wasn't affected at all from the slashdot effect. Sure they have a nice bank account to keep such a site running to be just a small company.

It's clear some kind of marketing from Sony, Microsoft, or who knows who, or a very well developed scam.

    My Two cents:

It is interesting to notice the fact that the few official informations about Halo 3 are actually about some kind of Magnetic Energy source taken directly from the Earth.Look at the trailer and Info.

It could be strange considering that they are targeting the european userbase first, but do not forget that the Leipzig Games Conference started today.

And by the way, even if "Steorn Co." exists even far well before the Xbox, I don't think it's too unresonable for Microsoft to buy an actual, albeit almost dead .com company just for a pubblicitary stunt.

Maybe because the Marketing Unit had no idea of what they were going to sell?

BG&E was a game directed to "casual gamers", or at least to people that don't care about the latest shader effect or technology improvment...

And Ubisoft had no idea how to show it to the public. The closest thing the have ever produced is Rayman, and it was presented the same way : Like a childish Platform Game.

PR:"what? No Uber shader Effects? No 14.540 different weapons? NO EXTREME VIOLENCE? How we should sell this stuff???"

So it was basically discarded, giving more attention to Price of Persia 2: "Now with more Blood yeahh!!!!11!"and the Splinter Cell add-on "Now You can 0wn ppl online " .

It the same of what happened to ICO: A developer spends $MILIONS over an interesting game, and a group of inept PRs (that just want to get a portfolio to show to an Advertising company ) having no idea of what are presenting, condemns it to the bargains bin in less than a month.

The developer fails and collapses, the Publisher thinks that such games are unable to return a profit, and the Marketing unit leaves to work for a Ad firm as they wished.

Completely off-topic, but the situation needs a clarification:

The Hezbollah are a group of Political activists not too much different from nationalist movents spawned around some part of Europe. And Like such movements, it's highly fragmented , and parts of it advocate the use of violence , like Hamas. There is no "Hezbollah Headquarter", like there is no " Nationalism Group Co." in Europe or USA. We in Europe have IRA, ETA and some paramilitary nazi groups in Germany. The Lebanon has Hamas, Some various Islamic indipendents groups, some bored sheik with the passion of guns, all of them separated and often in conflict between them.

Such terminology is misleading ,like the use of the "Communist" term during the Maccartism.

What is going on in Lebanon coud be compared to the France bombing the entire Ireland or Spain because of an attack carried by IRA or ETA.An entire nation of 3.000.000 people is going to be wiped out for the actions of the 5% of them. If you call that an "act of defense" from Isreael, well, I don't know, maybe I never understood the meaning of "defense" at all.

I can only hope that only the 5% or less of israelian population agrees with this madness.

The problem is that even if only the 5% of population is a danger for Israel population, the remaining 95% is surely not a friend of the USA/Israel. The actual "defense actions" are an attempt to balkanize the Middle East: fragmenting the territory creates small regions too weak to oppose the USA/Israelian positions regarding Oil Prices/currency (Iraq was about to change the exportation of Oil from Dollars to Euros when it was "freed".This article was written long before the "democratization" of Iraq ), Cultural education, the birth of "inopportune" political parties and so on. This is what happened with the balcanic states after the conflicts in Kossovo, Jugoslavia, and a good part of ex-communist states near the Germany after the fall of the wall.Read some '90 Uk newspaper about that, if someone still cares about.

If you think i'm a paranoid terrorist supporter, feel free to not trust me. Talk with an neutral professor or expert in foreign politics and hear what he says.

Ok, but consider that languages are not mathematical functions. They were created by convenience, need to comunicate, share emotions, write poerty, exchange goods and informations, etc.

Basically you are saying that we should start talking as robots, with "one sentence = one meaning".Great, too bad that human mind is more capable to play with words than to follow the rules.Maybe Shakespeare, Dante or Baudelaire weren't always correct, but they were able to comunicate us interesting concepts for sure.
