  1. Re:1 TFLOP? on Playstation 3 CPU Almost Finished? · · Score: 1

The performance of a GeForce4 Ti (forget MX, they're just speedbumped GF2s) is far greater than the GF2. Not only do the GF3s and above have vertex and pixel shaders (you can emulate vertex shaders, albeit EXTREMELY slowly, and you can't emulate pixel shaders at all) which enhance realism in the game. Performance too in some cases. You can't really compare the GF2 with GF3/4Ti, for they have very different architectures, and the performance increase is much larger than 75% (plus features that normal GF2s dont have). Sorry if I'm a bit redundant, haven't slept in a LONG time. :|

  2. Re:Because MIPS and Alpha processors suck! on Mandrake To Support AMD's Hammer · · Score: 2, Interesting

Uhm, the Alpha CPU still outperforms a lot of CPUs today. I don't know about the latest chips from Intel and AMD compared with the Alpha, but about a year ago there was a comparison between 64-bit chips and a few 32-bit chips, the Alpha won by a huge margin.

MIPS is still being used by SGI, and you can not tell me SGI is dead. They provide a big chunk of the workstations and renderfarms used to render special effects in movies (yes yes, I know, Linux is taking over in many place :).

If I'm not mistaken, Samsung still produces the Alpha chips.

Remember, MP3s are compressed. They must be uncompressed when burned onto a CD. That 4.3MB MP3 will easily turn into a 40MB+ CD audio file.

Almost all FPSs these days come with a free, downloadable Linux dedicated server. They're big ass downloads (~80-120MB) because they provide all the media necessary to run the server without having to install the game itself. And yes, it's the gaming companies that provide them. :)

That's 425 PS1 + PS2 games released since the release of the PS2. In late 1999, I had read that the PS1 had the largest gaming library with over 700 games. Besides that, there are many killer PS2 games: Final Fantasy X, Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Grand Turismo 3, and the list goes on. I already have a PS2 and some of the above games, but I want the rest plus an Xbox and GameCube - the games are what attracts me to the consoles.

1). 2.4.10 is the latest kernel.

2). VB for 8 years? Has VB been around for that long (I don't know). Also, kernel level programming in VB? Give me a break.

3). Linux performs better on most tasks than any version of Windows does (except games, but the nVidia drivers are changing this).

4). I don't know what kind of "enterprise" enviroment you have, but it seems that you are either lying, using an old kernel, or you have incorrectly setup Linux.

You know what, I won't even waste my time to point out more flaws in your statement. A troll like you doesn't deserve a response. Research everything about Linux that you think is bad and you'll find out how wrong you are.
