    BadAnalogyGuy, I'm disappointed with your recent posts. You seem to comment on every article with a bombastic and alarmist opinion, often without fully reading the article first. If you had looked into this thing at all, you wouldn't have needed to post this comment at all.
    It looks to me like you only care about getting as many "insightful" ratings as you can.

    You're forgetting about specialist applications like audio/music editing and production, video editing, and advanced image editing. Doing this stuff with web-based software isn't feasible, so as long as people do stuff like that, there will be some form of desktop.

    If there would be some special channels, such as a channel containing ITV/Channel4/etc or movies, then if I was interested I wouldn't mind paying for it so long as the price was right. The quality would need to be fairly good, though.

    However, if they mean paying just to use youtube at all, or paying for each and every video I watch, and paying to upload videos, no way.

    Wine is very easy, in my experience. Most problems are quickly solved with good help from google, and that's if there is a problem. Usually I just double click an exe file and it runs.

    Yes. If you're looking for small or independent bands, dmusic.com is very good. They provide free hosting for artists, and most songs are free to download in mp3 form.
    I've been using dmusic.com since October 2005.

    They should examine the DNA sequence of the very first generation of the bacteria, and compare it with the one which 'evolved' and see what the differences are. That might show some interesting results.

    Hopefully they had a lot of reusable concepts and code that they can leverage. Otherwise, that's an awful waste of code and effort.

    That's not looking so likely either. Do you see many new concepts in Vista (apart from the user harassment system and the shiny UI effects)?

    You're right. I recently got an mp3 player. The buttons are very smooth and level with the surface of the plastic, so you cannot feel which button your finger is on without looking. It bothered me so much that I stuck blu-tack to the surface of each button, so I could use the thing in bed at night without looking at the blindingly bright screen.

    I live in the UK.
