Wikipedia maintains their no-ad policy on the ground of preventing potential "conflicting interest", yet I don't see how a small ad word buyer can have more influence than a donor cited in TFA.
It's more of an ideological reason than anything else, very much like their debate of adopting mp4 video format.
It appears that they are using a Canon EF or EF-s mount, but Canon is missing in the list of sponsors (Nokia, Adobe Systems, Kodak, and Hewlett-Packard). So they either reverse-engined the communication protocle between the lens and the camera, or they just skip that part all together. Either way, it's not a completely open source camera unless lens manufacturers open up their mount designs.
"Copper thefts from these targets have increased since 2006" -- because the price of copper jumped from ~$1.5/lb in 2005 to ~$3/lb in 2006, and even increased a bit more in 2007. Now it's back to 2005 level at $1.5/lb. Problem solved.
... on sociological/psychological effects of/to/by computer. I can easily think of at least three major topics: 1) UI design. More general, software and user interaction. 2) Security system. As gp said, human is the weakest link. Try to understand and explain the reasons ( other than stupidity and laziness ), and how to design your system to avoid them. 3) Social network. [ Just a buzz word to attact more students !]
Is there a software can generator a paper model design from a 3D CAD software file( maya, auto cad...)? There are lots of free 3D models available on the web, way more than paper model designs. Even without texture, it can be really fun, then just image if it can generate texture with rendering effects ( lights, motion blur...).
Its price is the lowest since 1990 ($4.2 today);
Just fired its CEO;
Very favorable reviews for upcoming ATI4xxx GPU;
Troubles for NV;
What do ya thinking?
They mentioned in TFA, the success rate is 10~15%, which might be good for a spambot. I am not an expert in this area, but I would guess that's way too low for a usable OCR program.
Just another testimony to the astonishing accuracy of Moore's Law.
"The complexity for minimum component costs has increased at a rate of roughly a factor of two per year... Certainly over the short term this rate can be expected to continue, if not to increase. Over the longer term, the rate of increase is a bit more uncertain, although there is no reason to believe it will not remain nearly constant for at least 10 years. That means by 1975, the number of components per integrated circuit for minimum cost will be 65,000. I believe that such a large circuit can be built on a single wafer."

I might be one of "global warming idiots" - for not knowing too much about it, but I failed to see how water is as bad as CO2 in this issue. Earth, as we know, has 3/4 of its surface covered by water, thus the atmosphere is basically saturated for water vapour, i.e., no matter how much water (liquid, vapour, ice, all forms combined) exists on this planet, the amount of water vapour in atmosphere as a whole system is almost constant as long as the climate (temperature, pressure) doesn't change dramtically.
well, most of it is. The owner of road system (government) should weight more on public good (throughput) than profit (if at all). It's not a simple demand-supply situation in a free market.

can't wait to see blue logo-ed battery stations around the country.
And eBay, Google may well be investors of that company.
direct energy shots down a mosquito. "The idea behind the "Death Star" laser is that it could be used to control mosquito populations in developing countries in hopes of reducing the number of deaths due to malaria, a disease frequently carried by the flying insects. The device was shown off during the TED 2010 conference and does in fact appear to be capable of tracking and killing mosquitoes. Oh, and it was built out of parts found on eBay." http://gizmodo.com/5470148/this-is-a-mosquito-getting-killed-by-a-laser?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gizmodo%2Ffull+(Gizmodo)&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher

isn't that a collection of beautiful UI?
Now you know where the "g" in google came from.
I have one 700,000,000,000, wonder where that came from?
and people pay for being entertained.
And developers are just... gone.
what's next?
How do you like your steak be cooked, sir? Smart or dumb ?

Actually, it's a (dot)(slash) release.
