Of the three companies you mentioned, Microsoft is the least closed. Especially with regards to SilverLight, it looks like a new standard is being defined and broadly accepted. On that one, I would give high props to MS.

And for those interested, Silverlight will be legal on Linux.

I will set the record straight: NO.

-ONE muslim made major contributions, around year 900 (can't remember the date right now).
-HIS achievements were mostly IGNORED BY MUSLIMS, but eventually gained a foothold in Europe.
-Almost everything else "invented" by Muslims was in fact STOLEN from JEWS and OTHER COMMUNITIES.
-Being conquerors, Muslims brought science they got from one place to other places. That's similar to saying Europe did a favor to Africa by conquering and civilizing it.

I'm not really surprised since Microsoft's success has always been based on paying attention to its customers and being an enabler of computers for most people rather than a disabler, like all unix and unix derivative operating systems organizations.

  6. Vista AWESOME compared with CRAPPY Linux on Microsoft Should Abandon Vista? · · Score: 1, Interesting

I was running Ubuntu for 4-5 months and it was an "OK" experience. Most things in the box worked right out of the box. With the notable exception of printer sharing.

The Open Source applications included by default did a good enough job. Many things not included but that could be installed with the package manager worked. Many others didn't, like Bluetooth support. I noticed that there were no application worth talking about when it came to doing anything multimedia. Even Myth-TV was a total disapointment with hundreds of megs to download (it needs a lot of extra junky software) and hours to setup.

And then I noticed how completely broken is sound mixing on Linux...

So I switched to Vista, the best OS the planet has ever seen.

Does Vista have any flaws? Probably. The Open Source zealots rip their shirts complaining about it. Maybe they hopelessely witness Linux disapearing in the shadow of Vista. Or maybe there's a basis to their whinning. Probably not the latter though sice they can't provide any example of what's bad with Vista that can't be easily brushed off..

Windows is about using applications. Linux is about enjoying the OS.

For 99.999% of people, and 100% of organizations, I recommend Vista. I don't recommend Linux.

These simply cannot happen. And why is that? Easy: the biggest advantage for some people of democracy and bureaucracy at large is that they moves away responsibility from them. For instance, it's not the president who told lies about WMD in Iraq, it's the CIA clerck who put things together wrong.

If the system is flexible enough to do a lot of good stuff, but not flexible enough to ammend itself when it really should, what should we do? It must be shaken from the ground up and only the supreme leader of the nation can do this. Of course, we need to set a time limit!
