The best solution I heard is to erect an armored booth that detonated any explosive. Everyone has to go through it. Saves time and court expense. Nobody has to take off their shoes or empty their bags. It all goes in with them. The only problem would be how to make it self cleaning?
I have a hard time believing this about the USA or any sitting president, even O'Bama. I would hazard a guess that the story changed by the time it reached the media...Otherwise I might as well go home and wait for the speech police to come and get me for the last tea party.
"Voluntary" only applies to the initial pass. Once a person's ability to buy or sell depends on whether or not he has the UID, people will begin "volunteering" in droves. It is beginning much like our SSN. When I was born, it was voluntary. I did not get my SSN until I needed a drivers license, because it was required. Then when my kids were born, I had to register them in order to claim them as an exemption on my taxes. Fast forward to today...I can't participate in my companies employment benefits including retirement and healthcare unless I have a SSN.
It should be obvious to anyone on either side of this that it is as much of a tool for control as it is for convenience and benefit...
Someone always has an agenda, so it is easy to see strategic manipulation in anything if you try hard enough. It is more rasonable to assume that they are using a common technology to solve certain needs the school has for dooing a better job serving the number of kids herded through the lunch line, library, band equip lease or what have you.
Personally, I was memorizing a six digit clockwise/counter clockwise combination for my locker not much older than that. Memorization is better than tattooing barcodes on their hands or forheads...
You are showing your ignorance here...Do you know the range of a bear? Even if you do take him 500+ mles away, he will only find the next human to look for a pie. I hope it's not your sweet little daughter sitting on the porch of your home away from home that has the pie. Or the scout group on their first camping trip and practicing their backwoods cooking skills.
You have no idea what you are talking about here or the scope of of the situation.
In concept, I tend to agree with you that pot is relatively harmless and selling it is no different than running a liquor store. But, agree or not, the law is the law and unfortunately people that frequently smoke pot are too mellow to dive in and do what it takes to change it. Therefore you can't blame the cops here.
And about the bears...This is very sad, but the wildlife professionals are correct here. Bears and humans do not mix without training on both sides. I don't want my kid killed by a bear thinking his sandwich is a handout. Most folks would shrug this off, but you are correct, this is a terrible tragedy.
"Average Joe user may have absolutely no clue his WAP is broadcasting in the clear, nor should he be required to have that technical talent, anymore than we should all be expected to be car mechanics."
I disagree. Why shouldn't people be expected to be responsible for the equipment they purchase and run. Read the directions for crying out loud. It is not rocket science! They did not come on to his property to get this information. They picked it up from the street. If someone is throwing candy from their front yard and one lands in my pickup, am I wrong to take it and eat it? I think google should countersue that the user data interfered with their legal collection of data.
Wow...I have such a hard time believing that the inflammatory remarks being made here toward people of faith and even God himsilf. I thought most of us were about open source, live and let live, free speech, etc. I do believe in God and I do not believe what they have done in Ireland is right. You can't legislate morals or faith, period. Unfortunately what prompted me to post is the dichotomy displayed in so many of the posts.
If I attributed the responses of the extremists to any particular group of people, I might decide that everyone in the South belongs to the KKK, or all blacks are gangbangers. Come on, there are a lot of people out here that believe in God, read the bible, and go to church but are level headed, fun loving, normal folks.
Those of you who claim the religeous people are the people of hate, try reading some of the words above. What if I told you to F*** you or your mom, your wife, or anything else that you love and cherish? I personally think that is pretty mean and hateful.
Youall continue your hate fest but who is more irrational...The man who believes in a God he can not see, or the man who is offended by and attacks a God he does not believe in.
That's great that your grandparents know what a google search is. Someone should get kudos for that.
As for the rest of the world, we can't say that. I work with people both in an office environment and out working service orders out of trucks. Most folks in the office know what a google search is but that is stretching the limit of their computer knowledge, except what is necessary for their job.
The people that work out of the trucks are reminiscent of monkeys banging on the keyboard until they hit the right key or combination of keys. Occasionally one of these guys tries to better himself/herself and ends up in college. Thus, the college girl in this story.
We still have a generation or two that need to catch up.
I agree to a point. I think you can replace "Christians" with any religion. Predominant Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, or Muslim cultures all enjoy, to some degree, the safety of moral absolutes. On the other hand mixing these cultures without an openness to accept other beliefs can lead to the eradication of the weakest. Again...survival of the fittest. It is human nature to kill that which threatens it, including ideas.
They frequently do...How do you think Obama got where he is?

I wouldn't worry about it...you/we already are under constant Surveilance and investigation.
