So enlighten us, when was the last time you heard about Joe Q. RepresentingHimselfInCourtCuzHesMiddleclass successfully winning a court case against megalocorp's army of high-priced lawyers?
The current implementation of the US Legal system serves the purpose (in cases like this) of furthering economic interests, rarely does it actually uphold the criminal code with this kind of thing.
No, they wiggle into the original TOS that they can modify the TOS at any time in the future, usually with some BS "30 day notice" clause, that they might even honor!
I tried this out a month ago on opensolaris, linux, and solaris10 (both on x86). I've historically been a big supporter of Sun, but.. well.. It just 'didnt work' with solaris as the 'guest' OS. The guest would start up, launch X, and freeze. Default options for host&guest&xVM... Not a good start.
Yeah, I'm somewhat skeptical of the accuracy of the story, but it was mentioned by campus IT staff more then once, so I'm inclined to give it -some- credibility.
I recall hearing a story about a Sun Sparcstation 2 at my old college that had accidentilly got sealed inside a wall by construction folks when re-working the building the CS lab was in to eliminate a few closets for structural support reasons.. nobody could find it (shock!), but kept using it as a DNS server for another six years. It was found about 2 years after it stopped responding to ping when some component (nvram?) let out, and it started beeping after a power flicker.
And if it ever became a problem, just use a big slingshot (or whatever) to hurl it off in the general direction of the sun.. the only reason we dont do this with nuclear waste now is that the cost-to-orbit sucks, but for a reactor on the moon or already in space, most of the cost is absorbed already.
If you had that extra 14% you would be able to retire 7 years earlier to a dirt-road with no electricity, or did you not realize govt bailouts... excuse me, "subsidies" of failed industry are what fund those things? Or perhaps if the neocon version is correct, if you had that 14% you could retire and live in the alqaeda states of America?
Just because you dont realize that you get far more value from paying your tax money then you could EVER get spending it on your own, doesnt mean the rest of us need to live in the stoneage.
No problem, just privatize social security!
We can trust GOP lobbyists to put our money in the next Enron and secure our financial future, right?!
In all seriousness, "people" are too dumb to plan for retirement on their own. That, and a combination of being stretched too thin financially. That extra $5/week from lower taxes goes into the gas tank, not the 401k.
Before everyone gets all uppity about "omg people just need to be responsible, not MY PROBLEM that they cant plan for retirement!" you are entirely correct - its not your fault that most people (whom have never been properly educated on the subject nor had such education/information easily accessible to them) are unable to plan for retirement. Its not their fault either.
Syndeq, You suggested any form of accountability/responsibility for a corporate entity. What are you, some kind of commie scum?
The ability to perform any level/kind/etc of illegal, amoral, corrupt, or otherwise-unacceptable conduct while under the 'name' of a corporate entity, then when you get caught to say "Hey man, it was the company!" to avoid blame, is the cornerstone - nay - the single most essential principle of the US economy. After all, harder to bring "Acme, INC" to jail then "John Doe" isnt it?
In all seriousness, as long as the illusion of "corporate personhood" exists, we'll never escape this reaganic ideal of responsiblity-free wrongdoings.
Hire a security guard, but if you want to intimidate lanparty geeks you need to have him dressed up as Arthas or something.
Make sure the "steel is real" when selecting a weapon to go with the costume, geeks can tell 440stainless vs polished aluminum a mile away.
I doubt they are 'targeting' any specific school, but I strongly suspect IPs resolving to unilag.edu.ng are handled differently then those resolving to yale.edu , where the students are more likely to just pay a settlement rather then wipe their arse with the notices...
You'd spend more energy getting the buoyant "rocket" down deep underwater and keeping it there, and then it probably wouldnt 'bound' more then a few feet out of the water. Check out a video of a submarine doing an "emergency surface" then consider if it would help get the submarine into space. Interesting idea, but No-go.
Re: "Getting the CEV light enough for the Ares rockets to be able to launch it,".. the solution is simple.. buy/license/whatever the Energiya booster from the ruskies instead, and you'll have much more weight to play with.... OH sorry, I forgot, the Energiya isnt build in the correct congressional district... my bad.
Yes, his "terrorist fist jab" got WAY too much of a free pass from the liberal media!
Perhaps McSame isnt any longer capable of articulate facial expressions beyond a very small range of motion?
Perhaps, if his medical records were around to look over...

Do Americans not have this same protection?
No.
Fixed it for you. Maybe 20 years ago we did, not so much these days.
What isnt mentioned is that he took the goods from intel because the guys at AMD needed a laugh!
*ducks*

No, I hope for a non-corrupt business to rise up and displace the corrupt one.
Im not afraid to let a crappy business fail.
This kind of lawsuit is what's supposed to make "capitalism" work ... corrupt businesses being actually held accountable for shady dealings.
I hope it bankrupts them.

So free medicine is a result of ... what exactly in the "private sector" ?
If only people could afford too.

Unless they add in a stipulation for some kind of 'maintained speed', I can think of dozens of ways to abuse the rules ...
Ask mark shuttlesworth (and others) about the effectiveness of cutting the russian space program a big enough check ...
N/T

Twelve thousand years ago? Pshaw, that's twice as old as the earth itself is! ... right ? ....
