Whoa there! You just suggested international cooperation rather than competition! Better duck quick to dodge all the chairs that are going to fly from the nationalism crowd as they call you a communist pinko or whatever.

Queue all the crazy right wingers to tell us "now , lets think about this." and how free market principles have some place in a democratic election process.... *rolls eyes*
Mod parent up. Ive had the same issues with a company-wide rollout of Thunderbird replacing outlook. While 99% of the people have switched (its been a couple of years now), the #2 question (right behind "where's my calendar?") has been "how do I drag and drop this embedded mpeg movie that I stuck into a powerpoint slide onto my email? nono, in with the words not an attachment."... as much as that "tight integration" turns the stomache of any IT guy worth half his paycheck, the users expect it even if it doesnt work very well.
Those poor innocent spammers need to pay (somewhere, at some level, be it money for bandwidth or time to write the virus..) to send you those viagra ads.. if we block those messages, and never see them, is it theft of some kind from the spammers or the viagra company?
Who cringes at stuff like this mostly out of the fact that it will be used against (intentional word choice) children/teenagers to enforce a parent/group's own set of values upon the youngster who might not even share them?
Yeah yeah I'm all for people's rights to raise kids however they want, but I'm also for the rights of kids to not be brainwashed by david-koresh-worshipping freaks or indoctrinated into neo-nazi-ideology and such at an age where they are too young to have an educated opinion about it...
That's the beautiful catch isnt it? These crazy belief systems -require- their members to brainwash the kids... who then grow up and think its the "normal" thing to do to spread the brainwashing, and if you try and stick up for the rights of the kids than everyone bitches and whines that you are "trampling" the rights/beliefs/values of the brainwashing parent....
Sigh, the times we live in....
People couldnt afford to pay for that much extra electricity useage, and before you suggest some scheme where the power is provided free/gratis, if some old-white-man who is already rich isnt going to get MORE rich off of it somehow, it'll never fly...
Until the halliburtons of the world can make money off of it, those hybrids will remain unplugged.
So now when microsoft cant convince developers developers developers to only develop for microsoft platforms, they just pay them to only develop for microsoft platforms? Classic! This sort of thing used to be the subject of bad jokes and comical tales. Now its accepted business as usual. Sigh, I really hope that BOFH never becomes an acceptable business as usual type of norm...
Its what he didnt say that should be worrysome... while few would disagree with "when you control the pipe you should be able to draw profit from it" I noticed he didnt mention "consumers should have a good choice of more than one pipe to attach too".... yay for pipe-side economics!
Luckily the newer (post 2003) versions of portage give you a very clear indication (such as "WARNING! Update your profile, run the following command:") of why exactly any problems have happened.
Where you DO run into problems is if, like me, you dont run bleeding edge updates every 20 seconds and let a system "ferment" for about a year then try to install some non-really-simple package, like say qmail. That's the sort of update that gives out headaches if you dont do your homework ahead of time...
Only if they are all "tidy" the same way... if one "tidy" person believes that everything under the sun should be alphabetically sorted, and another believes it should all be chronologically sorted.. I'm willing to bet there may be more serious issues than if one of them was working with the "slob"
It seems to be a no-brainer that the most likely cause is gravitaional force from something we didnt know was there. Some kupier belt trash, comet that passed it years ago, who knows.
I'm frankly surprised that these types of navigational issues were/are not expected.....

So go do your part and buy a few Humvees ...
Yeah, and Attorney General Gonzalez swore to tell the truth before being questioned by the senate... And we all see how much -that- meant ...
I wont deny that id take the cash, but its still slimey ;-)

.. there's always a way in ..
Either A) dont go out of your way to buy products known to have issues with linux, or maybe check first B) use ubuntu
It isnt supposed too lol, thats half the point of the damned thing ...
Wait, something in Windows ... gasp ... doesnt work!?!
Say it aint so!!

Its from intel... the final version will run windows of some kind ... those "linux foibles" wont be an issue.
so much for "preview"
I'll trust it as soon as the guy who invented it straps on a set, and stands about 20 years in front of me ....
The mass media, and thus their old white rich owners, will -always- be scared shitless of any institution which nobody derives profit from.

They knew how to deal with traitors back in the day .... "The Pear" being a personal favourite...
No.

I can see it now ... "BY GOD, I thought it was just minesweeper!"
