People like knowing things. They love aqcuiring new knowledge, and learning about things. I've explained many things to 'bev' from accounting, and she understands them ok as long as I explain in terms she can understand. If you tell her "Your TCP/IP protocol couldn't interface with the samba server, But I found out that you mis-configured your network settings, so I set up DHCP to connect to the correct DNS server and now everything works ok". Of course she's gonna gloss over.
Everyone has their area of expertise. I'm sure bev could go off about the Financial reports and tax law so fast I would be flat on my ass, but she still takes the time to slowly explain things to me so I can understand them. Do the same for them. You'd be surprised. Just because we have knowledge 3 levels above someone, doesn't mean we have to speak to them 3 levels above their understanding.
I tend to write all my pages under Mozilla, then test with IE and make alterations accordingly. I've found this works much better than writing under IE and then testing with Mozilla.
Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. What I've found is that you can't even find consistency between versions of IE. Sure, the code I just tested works great on MS IE 6.0153891237, but it's broken on 5.3817240123, works on 4.3489751023, and it probably won't work on 6.07155009345... So, just code for the standards, and DON'T play with the lil' explorer-only 'features'... lord knows when those will stop working anyway. I think there was a point somewhere in there... oh yeah.... I code for mozilla as well, and cross-check on Opera/IE for consistensy... but please! design for the standards, not for a browser!

Furthermore, if I were to build a business selling "loin clothes for male nude figurines", so that other weird and prudish like-minded art collectors could cover up THEIR figurines without going through the hassle of sewing their own loinclothes, that'd be ok too. What I couldn't do, is create a derivative work of an existing male figurine, loincloth included, and make a profit from it. What ClearPlay is doing is more akin to selling the loincloth, not the edited figurine...
Missed a part? Start it over. Got to pee really bad? Start it over. How dare we, the consumer, get in the way of the director's pristine vision of the movie.
Actually, if Hollywood gets it's way, it would be
"Missed a part? pay for it again. Got to pee really bad? pay for it again..." How dare we, the consumer, get in the way of the executives pristine bottom-line?

And I bet you were just wating for an article like this to hit "cut and paste" on your beautifully-formulated-christian perspective article on just what creationism is, right?
or maybe you'll just start cutting-pasting this excact post into every programming related article you see on/. now, right?
Lemme tell you something man, your above posts makes the rest of us creationists look bad. Because of ppl like you, we are ridiculed, called fanatics, and the like. I am not a music producer. But, I AM a Graphic designer (read, art-whore, or whatever other name you might want to call me.).
Now, I don't see anything wrong with you taking any of my designs, photographs, or art works and giving them away for free. Post them on kaaza, or whatever. I don't care. That just means more free promotion for me. [on an unrelated note, part of the expense of CD music is paying the radio stations to play the music we want to download for FREE... go figure...] but anyway...
what would piss me off, is if you start charging people to distribute them my copywritten (sp?) work. As long as the p2p are not selling their work... i don't see anything wrong with it...
but that's just my worthless $.002...
hrm... i THINK there was a point to that... ah... whatever/rant
Umm... DeBeers HAS a monopoly on jewelry. They are not allowed in the states, so they sell through several sister companies, but I can assure you, that a diamond is NOT worth $600, $1000 or higher. They have kept an artificially high price on diamonds by monopolizing the supply of diamonds for ages... Every time a competitor has come into the market, they release an overstock of the same grade/quality and drive the prices down, undercutting the competition and forcing them out of business... kinda like M$...
Am I blind, or is there no information whatsoever on where I can be part of this. From what I could tell in the article, this is a project in which 3 labs are cooperating to make a lot of data available to researchers, but nowhere it says that it is a cooperative effort at all similar to SETI, at least, not in 15 years. . .

You provide your customers with a free, easy (and legal) way of previewing your products, and they feel compelled to buy them. Who would have thought?
