    Can you really imagine that the gov. would be able to tap that many wires ? Hundreds of millions of people calling every day, there is no way to even scan all these phonecalls, let alone pay attention to a certain message.

    Fallacy of appeal to tradition/common practice? Just because you think its always been done this way, means it shouldn't be questioned or opposed? That is a terrible line of reasoning.

    Also, i think you have to be brilliantly blue eyed and naive to believe that the CIA doesn't already tap wires without any kind of authorization, they are doing it, but only certain wires. So go on, call her neighbour and tell her that you're going over, nobody will know about it.

    This sounds like the old 'if you're not doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about.' If you believe this, then you've completely missed the point of the whole individual vs. state's rights debate.

    Nah, standard residential use of the 4/8 port routers. Heat wouldn't have been outside of normal operating temps.

    I was aware that Cisco only recently bough linksys, but at any rate, I still won't be buying them again, since I've had nothing but trouble with them.

    It was my understanding that Cisco was the best network hardware manufacturer out there, but after having 3 linksys routers die on me in the last 5 years (one a week out of warranty coverage). I won't be going anywhere near linksys again.

    My buddy just lost one as well.

    You don't really know downtown Toronto that well do you?

    Every self-important businessman (or woman) walks around with their face glued to a blackberry or cellphone (or uses a bluetooth headset).

    This is basically the downtown core and financial district. Everyone has a cellphone.

    I recently bought a Maxtor - only because it was on sale. Stuck it in a USB enclosure and it overheated and started clicking.

    I RMA'ed it, now the new one is in the enclosure, with the sides removed, in my case, with a case fan blowing directly across it. My next upgrade will be a seagate (or maybe a WD).

    It's probably better that way, but i'm just amazed how a relatively small amount of water can completely destroy the signal. I haven't tested it in the bath yet - how good is Dell Completecare?

    Its good, but you'll need the bathwater to put out the battery fire...

    A rod. Like a coat-rack. Well plenty of them, have them removable in sections of 100-200 discs, since you dont need frequent access to them. Catalog them and you're done.

    Just make sure the room is not exposed to sunlight, and doesn't get too dusty, i.e. keep them away from the floor.

    Why not use portable firefox to achieve most of that functionality? Bookmarks and other extensions at least.

    Alternatively I guess you could combine these two and have a really roaming browser. Though I'd still rather my passwords stay in my head rather than on a third party server (albeit encrypted).

    Office, which generated $2.95 billion in sales and $2.09 billion in profit in Microsoft's third quarter ended March 31.

    Hmm... $2 billion profit in one quarter? If that figure is accurate, I don't have any qualms downloading torrents of Office.

    Just like banks who rake in billions per year in profit, and screw their customers with ridiculous fees.

    Regulate them more I say.

    I had daily headaches for a period of time in high school and couldn't figure out what was causing them. Turns out it coincided with a switch from regular Pepsi to diet Pepsi. One well known side effect of Aspartame is headaches. I stopped drinking diet drinks and no more headaches. So just a note to any diet sode drinking chronic headache suffers out there.

    Exactly, its passing the buck. There will be a reckoning, but who knows, the correction may not come in this lifetime, though the way things are progressing it probably will. And cheap Chinese goods in a consumerist society are a factor. Take a look at the trade deficit. Having a massive trade and budget deficit at the same time is generally not considered to be a good thing, not to mention, not sustainable for a considerable period of time.

    Well if its one thing the US needs, its more tax breaks. Just run up the deficit some more. Its free money. Its not at all like mortgaging your future or anything.

    Enjoy your cheap Chinese goods while you still can, they won't be cheap for long.
