Back in 1981 (I was 11) I had the same thing occur to me. We were playing a game and you had to get to the branches of the tree above everyones head before being tagged. Arrested and put on almost put on probation for a year. Seems like nothing changes to me.
I taught a college course on general PC maintenance, building, etc. There was an MS engineer in the course. He needed it for the degree. He knew #$%^. He failed the course. Where I work, we take certification to a short degree and then experience, or prove what you know, and go from there.
I know CCNP's thta know less than I do, and I had a CCNA. I did not have time to renew. Working on *NIX boxes now a days more than ever before.
Igonre going after the idea the you are going to learn everythig in technology. trust me. I was teaching graduate courses in Networking and *NIX before I even received my bachelors degree. I have spoken to many colleges about getting a post graduate degree, and this is actually very easy with my experience. I have had CISCO certification, and earned it all through experience, not training.
The best thing to do is get some college experience, degress, actually help a bit, then get some real world experience through good companies. This is the hard part. Most of the best people I have ever met, and experienced over the years through others, etc, have been either taught by themelves, or through good experiences.
One person I have met with multiple degrees in mathematics, physics, history, etc, and a very talented technologist, for whatever that means, told me this...
He has meet three types of people in his life. One is the "geek" that is very interested in technoology and all that has to do with it, and how it works. Self taught to be concise. The other is an ex drug/criminal/etc that has always been very smart, but technology is an easy way for this person to get involved in things and not get board. The pther is an educated person. Book smart.
Geuss which one has always done the best....
Actually the ex criminal/etc, but a close second is the person that has always been involved in the field. The other guy, well...
F'em we never give them any chance in our company. Too mahy experiences with those type of people that can past a test very easily, but in the real world have no idea what to do, or how to find out what to do if they cannot.
I lost all of my CISCO certification in October. I have been way to busy to take the test, and could really give two shites. I work on networking equipment everyday. I already proved I can be certified, as I was. Why keep it up to date, unless you are talking years later.
When we hire someone, we never take certification as the be all of what someone is technically capable of. I know many people with MS, LINUX, CISCO, etc certification. They know nothing. What they do kn ow is how to study and take a test. 2 years later and they are still not that good. Do to that, they are alwats lookinh for a job.
I would keep up the the technology and changes, and wait down the road to waste the money. Unless someone is going to pay and, and all bills, to get recertified.
When I bought my wife her engagement ring, I had it designed. There is no other ring in the world that looks like this. We did end up putting a very, very small diamond in the top to break up the design a little, but that was more from the jewlers addition. My wife did not really care about the diamond. She enjoys this ring much more than a generic engagement ring, because less face it they all look the same, I designed and created it with her in mind.
It seems, as mentioned before, that you are having hardware issues, maybe configuration issues. Then again it may be your carrier. DSl, as well as all other WAN connectivity solutions are full duplex. At least I think it is. All other WAN technologies are full duplex, enless someone has some sort of funcky Ethernet connection, which can be changed to half/full within a configuration. Upstream should not effect downstream and vice versa. I would be calling your carrier and ask for a credit until they can get it to work correctly. Unless in your contract it explains that this connection is half duplex, then I geuss you are @#$%?!. I personally would not put up with something like that.
This article is actually a bunch of bull. The study actually came out few weeks, ago, and did not completely say that. The article suggested that at this point, there is a possibility that this could be true. Though quite a bit more research must be done.
Sounds like everything else research comes up with, jump to the first conclusion as soon as one appears and take it as truth until someone decides it is time to prove or disprove the theory.
Any, if this is true I should be dead already or any minute n.......
Unfortunately, this is the truth. I was a culprit of this a year ago. The FTC would do nothing, there was nothing for me to do. The actuall positive remarks on the seller were from freinds that were doing the same thing. They would just make stuff up about one another. The postive remarks were from freinds they "sold" items too, which the items actually did not exist. Then they would pull one big scam on the public and get out quick. This is just a tricky market to purchase goods in, at least as far as I can tell. If you get screwed, there really is no one to help you.
Anything that runs over a non-secure medium, like the air, is unsecure. Even with encryption and the like, someone can grab all the data, and decrypt later. There are also some other little tricks you can play with just to mess up someones data. This is a technology that can be used for simple things when it is needed, but for the most part, wireless is for tech nuts that would buy the new Backstreet Boys DVD, because it is totaly interactive, OOH - AAH.
Lets be a little realistic about what is possible and what is not.
This looks to me as though somone has finally put H.323 into a simple and practical format. From my experience with all this, it should work great. From what I have seen, and used, it will. Unless they have implemnted something out of the ordinary in H.323
