Has anyone ever listened to the BBC stuff of the Beatles? Their early career was nothing but covers. How do you think they learned to play? or compose?
Many painters begin by trying to paint one of the masters. This is a very good way to learn to express your own creativity.
Take religion as a contrast: 1. Come up with a nice book/scripture/bedtimestory 2. Defend it at all cost no mather how absurd it looks/sounds and how much evidence contradicts it.
"I have contacted ISP's with all the information they would need to trace the user performing the attack and notify them that their machine is infected, however, the response I usually recieve is, 'it is our policy not to blah blah blah'"
I don't know about that. I work for a company that handles the abuse department of an ISP. One complaint isn't enough to bother with, but if we get 3 or more we make an investigation and are pretty quick to get it resolved. If it's really bad and the source is not responsive (or typically, clueless), we have the source null routed.
Hitler was democratically elected. People gave up their power to him afterward. Here in the US, it is possible to be part of the political machine of any party. It rarely happens but some back woods schmo can become president.
As for the two party system, we seem to like it that way. We like either/or scenarios. But third parties can come to power. They always have. They just need to be popular enough. We started out almost a one party system, Federalists, but quickly the Democratic-Republicans arose to opose. Then came the Whigs and the Federalists faded away, then came the Republicans and the Whigs faded away. It's been Democrats and Republicans ever since, though there have been third parties, mostly built on a personality - Bull Moose, Reform Pary. There are a lot of 3rd parties now that have limited support. The Green Party gets most votes for pres due to personality, the Libertarian party has most candidates in office for actually party/platform support. Maybe one of these, or another will rise, the question is, which one will fade away? The Democrats used to be the Democratic-Republicans maybe those two parties should stop the charade and just adopt the old name.
One thing Atari did for me, if I have to go, I can hold it for as long as I need to.

Actually, Bill O'Reilly isn't a news caster, he's an editorialist. Fox's editorials are definitely slanted to the right, though they do have a lot of left leaning editorialists as well, just not with their own shows. Their news journalists are quite balanced, eg. Brit Hume and Chris Wallace.
Granted, there was bad information used (that many governments had) as part of justification, but there was justification without it. It was also legal. There was a cease fire agreement from the first Gulf War in which Iraq never followed the terms it agreed to. That right there is legal cause to end the cease fire.
It's also been a lot longer than 7 years without investigation.
Well, individuals aren't important and are downplayed. Things are owned communally. Importance is placed on group identity. This is why communist regimes so easily become "evil" because individual rights basically don't exist or at least are subordinated to the "good" of the state. And it becomes easy to get rid of "undesirable" groups for the good of the state. You aren't an individual with your own particular beliefs, ideas or rights, you are a member of a group. Hope your a member of a desirable one, else it's off to the gulags.
Actually the main differences in fascism, socialism and communism are degrees to which the government controls the means of production. Fascism - the means of production are owned by individuals, but they are told what, and how much to produce by the government (much like what America is becoming under both Democrat or Republican control). Socialism - means of production is owned by the government as well as dictated by the government. More expensive to the government than fascism. Communism - the "people" (whatever that is since there is no such thing as a group entity, merely a collection of individuals) own the means of production in common and are the government. No individual ownership since Communists don't believe in individuals.
If a Vegan were to lose an arm in a car accident, would they balk a the chance to dine on it? It's not like they'd be hurting another living being and the arm would be wasted otherwise. Food for thought. . .
In the South, pigs brains in scrambled eggs is not unheard of. You can actually buy a can of pigs brains. Monkey brains are also a delicacy in some cultures. Come on, haven't you seen Faces of Death?
What happened to the good ole days when geeks bit the heads off chickens?
As for being cool to pretend to be a geek, sure, as cool as it is for geeks to pretend to be cool. It's always obvious it's pretend.

I for one look forward to the day my land locked house becomes beach front property.
