The aim of the research is to develop real-time mind-controlled robotic limbs for the disabled
Kind of like how the aim of P2P is to distribute Linux and other large FREE software, but we all know what the real purpose is - Mind Controlled Sex Devices!
Last I checked, it was competing with free software remarkably well. In fact, it owns something like 70-90% of the market, depending on which market you look at.
Surely someone as open-minded, intelligent and non-biased such as yourself must stand back and admit that it must be doing SOMETHING right in order to maintain that lead, as well as for so many people to kick up a fuss now that it looks like it's going to be killed off.
Surely, I mean surely in the near-25-years that Microsoft has been developing windows, they hit the nail on the head and released a genuinely good Operating System at least once! Surely!
Or maybe not. Maybe nearly 90% of the users out there are all idiots or forced to use it because Microsoft has a proverbial gun stuck to their head. Those same users are also being forced to cry out loud "please no, please don't kill off XP! Please!". Or maybe it's just you.
You don't need particularly fast framerates just to test that it's rendering correctly. Once you know your pixels are in the places they're supposed to be, you can exit and run it on a real card.
Plus, it's tied into VS in the usual fancy ways, so you can do some nice real-time debugging and such, things that just aren't possible with the release.dll's.
The DirectX SDK comes with a "debug" software driver for both DX9 and DX10. Essentially, you use this driver to test your application to see how it's supposed to look - since it's entirely done in software, random graphics glitches caused by drivers aren't a factor, so you know if it's your fault or nvidia/ATI's.
The debug driver supports DX10 and works on XP, you can install the SDK right now and try it out for yourself. Catch is that you'll get about 0.0001FPS rendering little more than a rotating, untextured cube. Still, you want DX10 on XP? You've got it.
Although I have options for all 3 columns, each is displayed on their own and there's no option to use a newer/older version, so I'm guessing I'm still using the older version. Oh well. At least it works.
I'm unsure if I'm using the newer version of Gmail or not, but searching for contacts works fine for me. Is there any way to force it to use the newer version, that you know of, so that I may test it and see if it's a problem for me as well?
Been using this all morning and so far it's been nice and speedy for me. It's been much faster than the previous betas and there's definitely a significant improvement with most google aps (among others, but I use these all the time).
Might not be many new features over Beta 3, but the speed increase and reduced memory footprint (it's still quite big, but better than previous versions - around 100Mb usage after about 6 hours of constant browsing) are very welcome.
If this trend continues, the final release should be the best since 1.0.
I'm not exactly up to date with the whole "how the internet works at a high level" sort of thing, I don't suppose you'd be so helpful as to post a wiki article or something explaining it?
I'd search for it myself, but I'm not exactly sure what I'd be searching for>,,,
I've noticed a direct correlation with the amount of WoW subscribers and the amount I get laid.
Less competition for me? Let them play, boys, let them play!
There's a big-assed helium cloud headed right for us. Therefore, I propose we take the "ignore it until it solves itself" method of dealing with the situation.
Perhaps it's different in America, but here in the UK there's no financial block to becoming a student. If your family isn't moderately well-off, middle class or whatever, then the government pretty much pays all of your tuition fees for you and gives you just enough money to live on. Just enough.
I know this because I am, in fact, one of these students from a poor background and I know that on multiple occasions I was literally counting the pennies to try and make it through to the next loan instalment. And the real kicker? I don't even drink!
The MPAA and the RIAA have been targeting universities in a fury claiming that college students are causing them huge losses.
This is a bogus claim anyway, everyone knows college kids (aka Students) are piss poor and couldn't afford to buy the music even if they didn't download it.
Now they're just piss poor and bored.
Last I checked, quite a lot of those "free" phones had built in wifi, played music and video and even had some fancy thing called 3G and picture messaging.
You do have to get it symbian signed if you want to distribute your application. The signing tools that come with it are so that you can sign your application with your Company's certificate to verify that it came from you, but this will not run on a commercial phone. Only officially Symbian signed applications will.
There is a self-signing process, but this is only available to trusted developers who have developed a lot of Symbian applications.
The point is, it's very difficult for a small developer to get started when it comes to mobile applications, it's either freeware or nout for a lot of them and that's the problem.

Just a thought.
If that happens, what are we going to do!? Capitan Picard hasn't been born yet! Hell, even Kirk isn't around yet....
That's the most rediculous statement ever. They'll evolve into humans and look dead sexy, everyone knows that.

He doesn't sound like the most ideal candidate, but then what politician ever is?
Never underestimate what low self-esteem can do for you. If it's their self-esteem that's low, that is.

How long before people start claiming these as being the source of the melting ice caps?
There's a big-assed helium cloud headed right for us. Therefore, I propose we take the "ignore it until it solves itself" method of dealing with the situation.
Careful now, there's a bunch of people at Toshiba who might just pull it off this year.
Festive spirit, or incredibly slow news day?
You decide!
