Does every Skype/MS related news out there feel the need to make it look like it's MS's fault, only to switch to someone else's fault during the article? So, bashing MS all the time is still cool?
Really? That was one of my favorite parts...I can imagine them making cute beeps while flocking around. Then again I happen to find most "real" robots cute. with those huge shiny camera eyes and unreliable movement. It's like watching metal puppies tripping while taking their first steps. I'd be willing to get myself a dozen and have it move around my desk all day. What would they do if they go berserk anyway? Vibrate all over me until I die of old age?
It'd probably be quite the clumsy cluster. I can't wait for the smell of hot plastic when those wires start overheating. Correction: It'd probably be quite the smelly cluster. Like a tire factory.
We can start naming everything we discover after pop culture! EVERYTHING! We can even rename existing things after it. Years in the future science symposiums will sound like a conversation between 7-year-old kids in the schoolyard. I see absolutely nothing wrong with this picture.
Impossible! You must be trolling! A GBA emulator would be extreme. Shouldn't you start with something smaller like...megadrive(genesis) or pc-engine(tg16)? Although if GBA-style visuals are possible and manageable in javascript, I will be really tempted to do games in there...I am worried about the sound though, none of this cool javascript demos seems to get sound right judging by slashdot comments. Ahem, I digress. If you aren't trolling, I hope to see that emulator showcased in here as well.
Nah, I have acute versionitis so I am playing Black and White because it has more of everything. Although it can be a feat to finish Crystal in a javascript emulator of all things.
Well yes, graphically speaking DKC or even the infamous Resident Evil and a few other titles I can think about, do push the console much further in graphics. However, pokemon required a lot of clever and/or gross hacks to fit everything in the minuscule available space. It's like cramming a modern-style database in a 8086. (I believe the second generation (gold/silver/crystal) used a larger ROM size so they could relax a bit and fit stuff more liberally, but read about the "glitch pokemon" "Missingno" which offers some insight about the hacks used to fit pokemon green/red/blue/yellow into that ridiculous ROM size)
http://i.imgur.com/HX3pF.png Render me impressed. The sound is a bit of a mess but works better than that javascript Doom from some days ago. I don't have a ROM for pokemon gold/silver but they might work as well. Pretty cool. (Why pokemon and why should you care? It squeezes the gameboy until the last drop)
I am an indie developer myself. I develop without any regard of publishing. If the idea goes OK with my target audience, I just need to code it.
Likewise, many of my fellow indie devs aren't constrained by market studies, publisher input, or anything except direct consumer suggestions or even fixes.
Games in the "industry" are too regulated and expensive to allow such freedom. Look at some open dev diaries from pros, and you will find a lot of "this feature was added/removed because of something our publisher/whatever said".
The fact that consoles keep scaling graphics wildly, just manages to raise development costs and make the product suffer more because of the investment making it risky.
The "Digital Canon" doesn't apply only to blank DVD/CD. It also applies to cameras, video cameras, hard disk drives, anything including a hard disk or memory card storage, memory cards, computers themselves and plenty of specialized hardware if it can be used to store anything. There is no option or counteroffer, you have to pay the price yes, or yes. The value of the canon itself varies, but for items like cameras it meant a +20-30â difference.
This should be true. But you know how the mere accusation of being a pedophile is an automatic source of hell on earth. Don't underestimate people's zealotness.
Many many years ago depicting a mere spaceship was a real challenge. They pushed on and managed to do the first SW trilogy. Where is that willpower and creativity now?
Hence, I consider that man got lazy and is not worthy of having fans or even being a "creative" person at all. Pass the seat to the new generation of real creators who live permanently shadowed by this kind of people.
I don't really care about the result, never really been a SW fan, yet, I value effort and real creativity A LOT. I see nothing but horrible cheap CG in the new trilogy. All that can be considered good were events "set on stone" by the previous movies.
Lucas creative? I don't think so. I never thought so, rather.
Similarly to "if life gives you lemons, make limonade", a real creative can do his/her work even if all the available resources are a few cardboard boxes and silver paint. Therefore, I don't believe that there is no technology to make ANY series. Everything is possible in fiction. If it's not, you are doing it wrong.
It's a very valid opinion, but you know how media producers cannot stay away from clichés. If sad, unhappy endings happened to be the standard, few movies would be worth watching. Pretty much the same as now but in reverse.
Personally, I enjoy movies that have a good ending, but a hard-earned one.

They are so cute!
I don't even know why but I was "awww"ing when all the robots started to blink their lights in unison.

But I tried to go for a +1 funny D:

Damn, I'd mod you informative if not because I posted already. That's a lot of insight on the topic in a single post.

I don't think the graphics are that bad...but this looks more like a Halo mod with Duke characters than a Duke game proper...

Haven't had time to check that one out. Do you recommend it?
It's happening! Get your cricket things and go smack some zombies!

Thanks you both. I am not a native English speaker and fail with words that aren't used often :P

Swiper no swip...!!! ... ...oh... ... ...wait...
*retreats in shame for quoting a kiddy show*
(It's not my fault! It makes sense when stoned! Honest!)
Er...I meant to say "That doesn't make you wrong though". I fail it.
That's nitpicking...it's just a quick reply post.
That doesn't make you any less wrong though, so I guess someone should mod you informative.

...didn't stop the first movies from happening.
Are all directors this INCREDIBLY LAZY and uncreative?
