I know the FCC does some strange things at times. And I know that the censorship isn't exactly what I'd pick for my regular internet connection.
However, I know that when I'm working from my laptop while waiting at the mechanic, it'd be nice to have ANY cheap / free internet connection. $60/month for unlimited internet through the cellphone networks is too expensive for my needs...
Lower reaction rates also mean lower self-discharge (leakage) rates, which is what I think the GP was referring to. In other words, it was Physics 101 and not Chemistry 101.:-)
I've had two CPUs die from heat death when their cooling fans became clogged with dust, cat hair and pot smoke. I'm not sure if this story should result in a LOL-cat or a computer-shaped bong...
I don't have a full answer, but at one point there is a sense of awareness (even if it's not mature). For example, a born baby cries and likes to be held by it's mother.
At the other end, a freshly fertilized egg does not have a sense of awareness (at least, none that science can detect or explain).
I think this plays a part in the discussion. The embryo is human, but is an embryo self-aware?
But if there is not a perceived investment opportunity, many drugs sold for high prices today (and lower prices tomorrow) would never have been developed.
Maybe, but some companies are moving to the Washington / Oregon border. Energy is cheaper there, and the less distance the energy has to travel the more efficient.
Official Identity Theft Aftermath Cleanup Technician.
Better would be a demotion to "Public Toilet Cleanup Technician"... "Official Public Toilet Aftermath Cleanup Technician"?
The concern is that America is importing more than it exports. Overtime, this causes long-term damage to an economy.
By itself, outsourcing isn't bad. However, combine that with exports (manufactured goods are more expensive here than elsewhere) then there is a problem.
I don't know. However, even after Moore's law ends Intel will still be researching ways to make processors better with different hardware features or architectures. Eventually, there will not be enough rivers...
Americans more willing to pay for their techy gadgets? Have you seen how much they charge for CDs and DVDs over there? ~$30 and ~$50 (depending on what's it of).
(I use these as benchmarks since prices for other electronics vary).
Funny, but ewww....
You might be a little off, but I'd say you're pretty close, and I just had a couple of architecture and super computer systems classes.
And doesn't it weigh a lot more?
I measure productivity by check-ins per hour. It's way more effective.
(I really wished I could have done separate posts, but I feared the mods / admins would strike me down)

While media cost would make sense, I doubt archival would be a good use.
All of us should know how fragile and short the lifespan is for DVDs (due to their data density). I imagine this would only be worse...
Tie-die: You're doing it wrong!

Maritime Law does cover aliens if you treat them as "natives" like the colonials did.
Trade with them, enslave them, and/or slaughter them.
It will be. That's why we have airlocks. ;-)
Probably not.

Lets start a non-profit campaign to raise money for cheese to go with their whine.
I don't know who modded this off topic, but they apparently haven't seen Back to the Future.

Not that I question this, but do you have a link with more information about this? I'm curious to learn more...
Haven't you ever played Mechwarrior?

(sorry, couldn't resist)
I sense a scandal brewing on just how much VB he knows...
