i've never bought into any of the dieting fads nor tried them because they blamed random things without the science to back it up. one fateful day last summer i watched a documentary that claimed sugars in our food were to blame but it actually had the science to back it up.

Sugar is a drug, addictive and causes food cravings. This begs the question of why we aren't going through withdraw and the answer is that sugar has been added to all your foods specifically so you do not go through withdraw. Look at your raw pasta which has zero reason to have sugar added, it has about 3g of sugar added for every 56g (2 oz).

To make matters worse, food makers started using High Fructose Corn Syrup in products because it's inexpensive because corn is subsidized. Fructose is processed by your liver and it gets stored as fat unless you have low blood sugar. so products with High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) are most likely to make you fat.

After removing sugar from my diet (not easy to find products without sugar!) I went through a few days of withdraw. After that, I actually felt like I more energy to do things, so much so that I wanted to exercise (that was never my goal). I started walking regularly and losing weight without any crazy diet, just not eating things with sugar added. Apples are a great source of sugar that have the fiber to balance it out so that it's absorbed slowly avoiding a traffic jam in your liver.

In the last year I have lost 65 lbs of fat and gained 15 lbs of muscle without ever having to go hungry or restrain myself from eating. I'm still overweight (for now) but I'm no longer obese.

The food supply is being drugged to increase profits.

one of the big blockers for gaming via WINE has always been DirectX, specifically translating DirectX Graphics to OpenGL. Now with the Vulkan API, we'll be able to implement the various DirectX API versions and OpenGL versions in a completely portable way as function calls to RISC-V GPU code. The only thing left is for someone to make open source firmware that implements the Vulkan API and we'll finally have a truly open source video card.

as for non-gaming, looking over how our desktops are rendered, we should implement a minimalistic window rendering API using the Vulkan API that UI libraries can build upon. this reduces the number of layers involved in rendering and can solve the accelerated vs software only problem via the LLVM implementation that runs RISC-V code. at the same time, the desktop API allowing you to choose a target GPU could forward calls from the remote system to your local system so that the forwarded windows are actually rendered locally which would vastly reduce the bandwidth as well as enable the total integration of multiple desktops.

Vulkan is the rendering API that Linux has needed all along.

the difference is that solar is an upfront investment. many humans have weak long term planning skills and so paying $300 for electricity sure beats a $30K system. however, i've made no claims about the price of solar because the price isn't the issue here, the environment is the issue. the sooner we switch of fossil fuels, the better chance we have at fixing the problem we've created.

By saying we must tax carbon fuels out of existence is admitting we will not be running out of oil any time soon.

the problem is not about running out of oil, the problem is all the carbon in the atmosphere is causing the earth to retain too much heat and causing the ocean to absorb a lot more CO2 which is making the oceans more acidic. even if we had a limitless supply of oil, burning it is still a problem.

Why, then, are most people so negative on other people selling and buying them?

for the same reason i'm against international arms deals who have no quibbles selling weapons to terrorists.

widespread abuse and a total deviation of it's intended purpose isn't reason enough?

Are these suggestions coming from fools and/or folks short of their own ideas? What's going on?

no, they are coming from people who are fed up with the bullshit idea that because someone thought of an idea before them that somehow entitles them to exclusive ownership of the idea. very few patents are actually novel and everything will be reinvented given enough time.
