    where are the people that bark google has too much power and are "intrinsically evil" because of it? where are the people crying that their privacy is being breached because it scans their email for context? where are the people claiming they have been "scroogled"? where are you naysayer of every change google makes to a (free) product? where is your vitriol toward google for perpetrating a clearly heinous act? then again, you could just mod me down for your bitter repute.

    have you considered that google actually tries to follow their "dont be evil" edict?

    And that's why python is only used for laying out the user interface, and all the heavy lifting is done by GStreamer and gst-editing-services. I invite you to research that ;)

    it's fine for stock widgets but when it comes to custom gui elements, it's a cpu drain. the video/audio track representations are completely custom.

    they gave the chinese gov full access to their (chinese) user identities and file access. i would not be surprised if their china gov approved system is completely contained within china.

    there was a time when cars didnt have computers. there was also a time when the computers ran a single program instead of an operating system that executes other programs.

    why do we have operating systems for the only important function of the car?

    the biggest security threat to computers is the user. users improperly configure things, wont take security precautions (like using weak passwords) and will outright download viruses/malware. far too many users are not competent enough to tell the difference of a real popup window and a website claiming they have a virus and they need to install their trojan horse immediately.

    honestly, i would rather have something that is known to work in the long term and not need update to patch bugs or possible changes to the config file implementation. let's just use something that we know works.

    on the other hand, couldn't it be an optional package (a package is required but there are multiple to choose from) with the default as systemd?

    what they are using is based on the same recognition semantics that the Kinect uses. bottom line: it's software that is inspired by how the Kinect works what uses their existing hardware thus saving oodles of money.

    it's clear that the amount offered is very little compared to what you could get by selling the info. if you can get a browser hack that can highjack the OS then it's worth a shitload more than the pennies they are offering. they need to start offering real cash for these deep level hacks.

    what if you just look at the chip contents under a microscope? i figure if you put that much money into the company that you should be able to inspect the resulting chip. seems like it would be a simple to determine if it's just a plain ol' IC or not.

    how about we just drop the farse that are TLDs? the only TLDs with any credability are .gov and .edu because those are regulated. all the other TLDs are just one big bag of everything else. nobody wants to get a .net if .com is taken because of the confusion that ensues.

    Nothing has been "open sourced" as it was never closed sourced to start with. It's all original code written specifically for Nouveau.

    There are many reasons why TSA will not be reformed. High incumbancy rate is one of them. But your citation of gerrymandering as a major problem for TSA reform is ridiculous here.

    my reply was to "We hold the purse strings AND the votes" which is then tied to officials doing nothing because they have job security in the extremely high incumbancy rate. you will never see two democrats or two republicans on the ballot.

    In other words, "Congress sucks, but my guy's an okay dude!"

    That's why there's a high incumbency rate.

    you dont get it, they reason they are saying they like the guy is BECAUSE of gerrymandering. the whole point is to get people who like you.

    You need to get people to realize that their own representatives are PART of Congress, and they need to vote them out when Congress isn't working well.

    no, you need political diversity so that you dont have an overwhelming amount of democrats only voting for democrats and republicans voting for republican. when there is no risk of not getting reelected, there is no motivation to do anything that could be considered controversial to some. some may not like the rep doing nothing but too many people are just going to vote for their party.

    you have no idea the damage that gerrymandering is doing.
