    personally, i would settle for a 700MHz PC (running linux of coarse) that lasted until the cow came home (it's a small farm :P ). it would probably be best to use the ARM archatecture though. im not interested in running Quake 4 when all im doing is writing a college paper, browsing and chatting... isn't that what a desktop computer is for? well, that and adding fancy lights, a see-through panel, oh... and not to mention the harddrive with a window. :)

    there really isnt such a thing as a "high enough" resolution. i mean, for security purposes, the higher the resolution, the better use it can be at identifying a person. also if you could see the detail ever so closely, like zooming in, on a picture you took, it would also be cool. furthermore, photographers would like to print images on large paper, like a poster. oh and im sure there are plenty of guys out there that would appreciate higher resolution porn. :P

    There are many leak tracing tools, both libraries and external applications. a quick search with the keywords memory, leak and tracing will popup lots of tools. chances are the reason your application is going to crap out is because of memory issues. like others have said, test the hell out of everything, not just as a whole, each class individually. multithreading and the odd modularization scheme you are thinking of is most likely going to make it near impossible to find bugs.

    actually, i feel that almost always, there is no need for capital letters. it's a syntax rule which is rather frivolous. however, everything i write that lack capital letters or apostrophes can be derived with ease. i do use capitals and apostrophes when truely warranted.

    last time i checked, most of the world had outlawed rape and actually tried hard to enforce it. there are places that do not even attempt to stop it or even make it illegal. he speaks of the societies fitting the latter description.

    i would say the various societies as a collective are stupid. the men feel justified in rape. that is just plain out stupid. no, not everyone in Africa is stupid but there are many stupid societies who are flat out violent and ignorant. the rapists are idiots, the people that allow it are idiots, and the victims are collateral damage. so, there are a lot of idiots in Africa.

    Let's not forget those rape victims, people with cheating spouses, medical professionals who get needle sticks while saving lives, children sold into sexual slavery.
    rape victims are collateral damage. people with cheating spouses are idiots if they dont know their spouses are cheating or better yet, give their spouses reason to cheat on them. medical professionals know the risks they take. i think there are very few that actually get AIDS that way but they understand it's possible. if you work with explosives, you have to accept that fact that you may get blown up. it's called an occupational hazard.

    i would say sleeping around is stupid as it is irresponsible. there is such a thing as "going to fast" in a relationship. it's like saying getting killed by walking into traffic is unfair because you didnt look. just one mistake, one very stupid and irresponsible mistake. social darwinism at work.

    you are absolutely right. i do however think that MS is in the unique position to basically threaten to immediately pull the rug out from under their feet if they dont like it. though im sure MS would be scared of them going to linux which i dont think could happen without major headaches and some serious security holes within their own government computers. while they could patch this for a while with a fix, they would definately be screwed on the moving everything to legit software as the illegal use of software is frowned upon in the international scene, yes, even if it is microsoft. the difference is that google is already fighting a local china specific search engine (with im sure with censorship up the wazoo). in the end, MS has serious weight to throw around, so why not use it for a good cause instead of scapegoating hackers to draw attention from the fact that hey have serious problems with their OS?

    i was about to say some of that. it's like asking why "youngster" arent interested in building a bicycle when you cannot use gears, interchangable parts, any type of welding device, and adding handlebars is illegal. it's also close to someone pointing a gun at you and saying, "feel free to do anything you want on this computer... just dont make me unhappy" which is quite a nebulous assertion. hmm... patent minefields... sounds like we need some of those rats.

    i gotta say, with all the modern crazy math/physics stuff, i guess this one was a doozie. while there is no Nobel prize for mathematics, there is for physics, which this kinda integrates with... heh... integrates. for a 40 year old problem solved, i think he should get some award. if nothing else, he gets a giant gold star, the size of a football field from me. impressive. now if we can add this info into our 3D video games... :)
