I work for the FCC, and my opinions and statements are that of my own.
This is a waste of time.
The people you are throttling that will be effected have 0 say in what goes on here, we work the same job many engineers developers and BA's and testers do across the nation.
Also, most of our work is for services we provide to the public. Most outwards traffic is to look up commands or to mess around on facebook/reddit/slashdot.
And to be honest, im sure over 95% of the people reading this have never heard of neocities.org. Sorry.
If your kids are playing with guns, then as a parent you have failed. No simpler way to put it. You were warned not to let kids play with guns for literally years, and now April 8th came, you're still letting them play with guns. I think in this analogy its time for Child Services to come alleviate you of your kids, since you cant take care of them and have failed to follow simple. Don't give me that "its impossible, im too integrated into my ways". No, its possible, you failed to work that cost into your business logic.
No one wants to see children get hurt, but when their legal guardian has sit idly by for years after being lectured, its time to up the ante before that 0day shoots you in the face. This one might shoot you in the foot, but its a lot better than the next one which might be a face full of buckshot.
Because we privitized health care and is very hard to invert the process this far.
Health care is a 2billion+ industry. That won't be disbanded until you pry it from their cold, dead hands.
This is very true and could be in the back of his mind.
And even with him being the only noted one in his place that uses Linux, he may already have the job security track secured, at the least.
I just worry about the scope creep of this. First its installations, then management, teaching, troubleshooting, on call at odd hours of the night.
It hasnt even been noted to what his main role is, but if he does not work in IT, does he want to end up there? Or does he think this could springboard himself into upper management?
But see, I'm so removed from DIII that I didnt even know that there was a patch issued. And thats probably for the best, because im too busy to put the time into Diablo. Now if they didnt fumble the game play between 2 and 3, I might have been more compelled to check out the update, but meh
Isnt this what Barnaby did years ago at Black Hat? Where is the news? Physical access to a (sadly) not locked down computer isnt too hard to compromise.
I do remember some bs about not allowing an d helicopters in the vicinity because of health reasons and very little coverage.
It is a shame that some things are swept under the rug when they should be magnified appropriately. But when people want to silence an issue, there is ALWAYS a price it can be paid to be achieved . . . .
While I can't argue that governments have the most to lose by the success of Bitcoins, I'll play devils advocate and ask if you categorize BT as a new country with its own currency, how would the potential hit to any given government be different?
OP is saying that you cant learn at an older age, hes questioning how someone in the technology field has not done any kind of programming.
And I have to agree. Being 30 years old (im 30 as well) and never even having the curiosity to program anything like even a webpage says you kind of fell
into that position, accepted it as a 9-5 and is literally by definition a mouse clicker.
But like you cited, starting at 30+ isnt a death knoll. Yea, it sucks that your competition are all fresh out college and on the cutting edge, but thats a risk he's willing to take. Best of luck man.
I'm sorry, I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but blaming the gov for this is just tin foil men on too much Jolt soda.
What are we looking at, a whopping half a million stolen in Flexcoin and what, 700k stolen in MtGox?
If a loss of less then 2 mil, or actually, whatever the total amount of bitcoins available is a threat to any government, that government is even flimsier than bitcoin is showing to be. Sorry . . . .
A white hat does exactly what he is supposed to do (allegedly) and a company takes the proper route and doesnt sue him into oblivion, takes the proper steps to make a timely fix and gives him a reward. And yet everyone here swings and misses on the topic.
Congrats. This place is the officially one rung above 4chan.
I think thats a great idea.
They should expand this to other heavily traveled businesses and venues and high traffic areas throughout the city so even more people can have the chance to ride at a convenient time. Why hasnt anyone thought about this before???
Not all cars, driver agnostic, can go the same speeds due to the mechanical condition of the car. Im not talking about a Ferrari versus a '83 Ford escort in terms of top speed, but stopping time of said car if all moving at the same speed. Or delving further, at speed X, are all cars capable of safely swerving out of the way or braking in time in case of an emergency? Older and lesser quality cars will differ. Or another metric is how tuned up is your car? Is it liable to breakdown mid transit? Regulating speeds of car goes way beyond the driver's wants, but the mechanical capabilities of each car.

Parenting fail.

. . . why cant they be both?
I work at the FCC (as an Engineer) I want some of that trickle down . . . . :(

Since I am the only guy with Linux experience I would have to support the Linux installations.
You're going to be the new Sys Admin. On top of your other work, which I am just assuming is not a Sys Admin role.
Let IT worry about IT.

I sorta enjoyed DIII. But I've long stopped playing this along with anyone I used to play with months ago.
Maybe if they came out with this sooner with a higher cap, but Diablo just might be done for me.
I'll give Warcraft another chance.

Cool Story Bro.
So where do you work now???
I do remember some bs about not allowing an d helicopters in the vicinity because of health reasons and very little coverage.

It means we should find what eats or infects rootworms, what "is in rootworm business" and work from there.
I think the Simpsons have shown that this is a very bad idea.
As soon as I read 'finger' I was shaking my head . . . lol oh man . . . .
. . so people cant wear skirts anymore? Sharia Law is over there . . . .

Nah, you can bracket the Junior title by lack of depth (years) or breadth (versatility).
Junior is usually someone with 0-3 years experience, which is exactly where main OP is.
His leg up on all his other out of college competition will be experience in the work force (IT experience)

. . . or your family doesnt represent the average SMS's sent a day?
I was going to post exactly this. With my work now done, its time for an early lunch.
You missed the point of his post.
