Are mods especially thick today? Who on earth modded this down?!?
You should lose your points, but go ahead and use your last one on me so no one sees me calling you on it. Sometimes I wish moderation was not invisible. </rant>
IANAP and IANASB (Programmer, Successful Businessman), but I have what I hope isn't too stupid a question.
MS has for some time differentiated between home and Pro versions of their OSes, why not a Legacy & no-Legacy version? This doesn't sound (to me) to be so hard a concept, and everyone gets what they want. The defacto version would likely have to be Legacy (like on $500 Dells) but as people start to realize (because their kids/friends/whatever tell them so) the no-Legacy version is faster/better/whatever, people will wean to it. Hospitals, etc that will more-or-less always need legacy support can continue to buy that version, but in 5-10 years MS can charge twice (or more) as much for it since it will by then be a niche OS. Then we get an OS that isn't bogged down, the instances where it is needed are covered . . .
Does this not make good business sense for MS? Surely they have enough programmers that supporting two completely different versions of their OS would not be a hardship.
Please forgive the OT post, the below quote comes from MS (formatting mine):
"Expression Web FAQ
Who is the target audience for Expression Web?
Expression Web (formerly Expression Web Designer) is targeted at the professional designers who are building standards-based XHTML Web sites and applications."
Here's a reply from someone that doesn't think you a troll for defending your rights. Assuming you are in the USA or other country that permits you to bear arms, I for one am glad you took the time to take classes & get a cc permit.
My Karma is positive, mod me a troll if you have to, but sometimes people need to remember that just because you don't exercise a specific right doesn't negate it's value. I didn't go after Acer for the 1/5 of my laptop's cost that was XP Home (which I deleted withen 48 hours) but I'm glad this guy got his back from Dell. I don't carry a firearm, but I'm glad people exercise this freedom. I belong to a somewhat unpopular religion (especially in the southern parts of USA), but it is my right to do so.
Cheers to the guy who got his money from Dell, cheers to GigsVT. Everyone should exercise their freedom every chance they get.
I have moved once or twice since the last election (we're newlyweds, two more moves planned in the next two years) so I 'had' to use a paper provisional ballot.
Keep in mind some of us (especially young, poor people and minorities according to the DC) are rather transitory. I won't vote on any of the issues because I will have moved again before they affect me.
I will, however, vote against Orrin Hatch (yep, I'm currently in Utah) even though it is a largely wasted vote. Pete doesn't stand a chance. #$^%#^.
I did not RTFA (why would I, this is /.), but does it give direction + actual distance or just is within radius?
Your point is great if it does the former, but I suspect (again, didn't bother to RTFA) it is the latter.
I'm not familiar with 'Trsuat', but Regan was sick for a long time ... ;)
Oh, and Slashdot car analogies.
Heck, they don't even have to be close.
... and depth charges, nukes, really bad farts ...
Not to start a flamewar, but in the past it has been.
NY started clamping down on trans fats in restaurants, it was just a matter of time 'til someone went after Oreo.

Not to mention Goatse and Slashdot.
Apparently whatever gives you the result you are looking for.
It has been taken down; here is what it looked like
... seems they have all seen the show.

But to date, no one has ever been killed on a space elevator. I guess regular elevators are more dangerous?
c'mon, grin
Has XBox turned a profit yet?
;)
Not trollin', just askin'

Just found it interesting.
In Korea, only old people want gadgets for Christmas.
So much for Karma . . .
'preciate the correction/example.
Yes, but charges generally take time. IANAL, but I don't think he can pardon someone in advance - someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Difference is, now he can get a pardon. Won't be the case in 2 years.

FWIIW, I completely agree with you. Some tags are worthless.
I used my option to write-in to select none of the above more than once today.
jm2c, ymmv

This was in SL, UT, YMMV

Off to the polls
