I deal with the DAT distribution problem by using a Windows DFS Share. I created a DFS Share which replicates to each office, then Mcafee dumps the DAT and other files onto the DFS Share. Windows then does the differencing using RDC (Remote Differential Compression). The workstations are setup to use a secondary repository which points to the DFS share.
Doing it this way means I don't have hundreds of computers pulling their DATs over the WAN and there is less to send over the WAN because of RDC.
I agree that Mcafee should do something about this, but I have found this to be the best method of DAT distribution at this time.
Do these tweeting birds also have hats made of tin foil?
I know revolution is popular over there right now, but does that mean that anything that happens now points toward it?
I have been known to throw my blackberry curve across the room when it wakes me up on Sunday morning. It still works as well as the day I got it. It also has 3x the battery life of my Motorola Milestone. (Yes I have two phones, Work and Personal).
There are not very many phones with the battery life, durability, and functionality of my blackberry.

Well, the Chevy Volt has about 40 miles of range on the batteries. They did this because most people drive less than 40 miles on a typical day, that would cut your 7.5 kw down to 5 kw. Not sure how to trim it down more, maybe lighter vehicles than you used in your calculation?
Or organization uses Disk to Disk backups. Meaning we backup our SAN to a secondary SAN, then that secondary SAN replicates to an offsite SAN. So we end up with 3 copies of our data.
The problem with Disk to Disk vs Tape: One day someone who didn't understand LUNS mounted the same LUN onto multiple servers and the two servers managed to clobber a bunch of the backups on the secondary SAN. Its harder to do that with tape....but tape has it's own issues.
My recommendation? Disk to Disk to Tape. Use the backups you store on your disks to do your quick restores and use tapes as your off-site backup. It is probably the most cost effective solution, and since the tapes are not plugged into anything no one can touch your server and instantly wipe out ALL of your backups.
I totally feel the same way. I keep seeing all these awesome things at all these trade shows, and no one will sell them...It's like, look what we can do, but you can't have it!!!!
I changed all the doorknobs at my house to use codes. I then took the keys and stuck them in a lockbox outside in case the batteries go dead on the doorknobs.
The only reason I bought an xbox was for windows media center. I have played maybe 3 hours of games on it since I purchased it. I tried mythtv with the original xbox, but it just wasn't as elegant.
There just isnt a media center out there that is as good as windows media center in terms of the look and feel....there are some solutions out there that contain more functionality though.
can't sell to three sides....I only have two arms
just because they are unmanned, doesnt mean they have to be unarmed
you could buy a phone on metro PCS, then sell it on ebay when you are done with your vacation. Metro PCS has unlimited everything plans for $45/month http://www.metropcs.com/plans/default.aspx?tab=family

Kind of like tuning into a radio station in your car when driving down the road.

Did they really mean Fusion, or did they mean Fission?
I was under the impression that a Fusion reactor was a little harder to build.
Time to make another tiny Tinfoil hat for my Phone, and a Great Big one for my Computer!

I was thinking OSI Model when I ready the title of the article....a little confusing.
I don't think the crimes are necessarily comparable, but sometimes it feels like the punishments are....

I now only carry my car keys and my work keys.
you learn something every day :)
My teachers in school used to say for every bug you fix, you have a 50% chance of creating two more :)
