I love /. This is the first athletic/fitness/healthy item mentioned on slashdot front page in some time, and the first /.two taggings are lame and stupid. Just because you're a nerd doesnt mean you have to be fat and lazy and never do anything physical. Dont label me flamebit or some nerd excuse, this is true although I dont want to generalize. When i saw this i was like cool, for 30 bucks I can compare my workouts to see how im doing and with a device I already carry while working out. Thats it, Its a little device that can help you work out. Not a Beowolf cluster or a new 16 core processor, it helps you work out for 30 bucks. Thats it. The majority of people in this market already have an ipod and a pair of nikes, why not make them do more for you? just a thought.

  6. Re:Canon already uses CMOS on 8 MegaPixel Digital Sensor Unveiled · · Score: 1

This is not news! CMOS has been at a consumer level for years! It was supposed to be super promising and kodak talked about how it would change digital photography forever. I remember using it on a kodak DCS. Turns its out its not any better than a good CCD. Plus the range of values you get from a CCD are better than a CMOS chip. I have shot RAW on both formats.

The reason I think the media is picking this up as news, is because CMOS chips might work well inside of cell phones, lower power consumption and no need for great quality.

Makes me wonder though, when the hell are they gonan put a good flash on a cell phone!

China's economy is not communist, althought the government is. They have a communist party. They are a socialst country yes, but they are still under a communist party that controls the entire electorial process, oh and as we see here the telecommunications industry...im uniformed I know.

RedBerry, wow what a suprise. I love this communist scum, they keep blackberry out so their state controlled telecom company can introduce "MaoBerry" which is probably full of snooping tools. I bet the every email coming from a "MaoBerry" is processed by the government for improper use of the "MaoBerry" or RedBerry. But the guy earlier was right, where is the picture. I wonder if the battery door has a hammer and sickle?

  10. Not again! on First 3G BlackBerry Announced · · Score: 0, Troll

The reason blackberry doesn't have an all important camera on a phone is because of secuuraty. This same train of thought follows with removable media and bluetooth. RIM says they cannot secure these features. Most offices and of course FED offices where people use blackberrys dont allow cameras on phones, and sure as hell dont allow removable media. Bluetooth in insecure as articles posted on this site have shown. This is why bluetooth is limited on blackberrys. And if you dont believe me on the camera thing, palm sells a treo with no camera. Although RIM could do this too, why should they? They have the market clocked. As a user who does own both a Treo650 and BB7250, I can honestly say E mail is a joke on the Treo. The only way you can have fast as Blackberry E-Mail on a treo is if you have a dedicated Exchange style server. Blackberry has that all built in. The reason this phone is important, is because it can be tethered as a modem. And with Unlimitd data plans, that can be pretty sweet.
The treo does have a better PDA style features though. I do like the treo, but not for e-mail.

PS.There is no ultimate l33t super ub3r super device that does everything.

As I sit in a Math lecture and post slashdot comments from my blackberry7250, I come to the reality that I have become totally and completly dependent on this thing. Some points the media has been leaving out of its article... 1) RIM "allegedly" has a work around that "works around" the NTP patent. 2)RIM will have an impossible task of finding out who is government and non government. Especially when the government uses commercial wireless carriers like Verizon. 3)They will find a settlement before shutting down,NTP would rather have the cash. I'm dreading the day I have to use a Treo and its small little keys. Anyway I got an instant wireless E-Mail right now. Probably my professor asking me to pay attention.
