  2. Re:Just Two Things on Science's Alternative To an Intelligent Creator · · Score: 0

I think asking a question like "why?" when faced with the universe if quite irrelevant and anthropomorphic. Kind of like studying nature and trying to ask yourself why animals were "made" that way. I ponder that for the longest time there was nothing. Until there was something. But asking "why?" seems kind of irrelevant. I woudl guess the answer is associated with thermodynamics and a tendency to increase entropy, and not decrease.

Yawn. Can we at least have some evidence with our SCIENCE ? How about the obvious fact that we have no idea how big the universe is. That all we see is THE VISIBLE universe. So hence there is a limit to how far we can observe / interact (speed of light). What if the laws of Physics change depending on which region of this immensely vast universe we exist in. Seem A LOT more reasonable that sci-fi multiverses.

I think it's more likely life started in some BIG place, where there was a lot of raw materials to mix, a more stable environment and 6 billion more years to come about than on the early Earth. Your example of the lottery is incorrect. No matter how many people enter a lottery, there is alway a winner. Not so with the origins of life, which I would say is more like throwing consecutive 6's on a dice. The more throws or people throwing, the more likely it will happen.

Makes me sad to think of all the families that forked out $1000 extra because they thought they had to have a mac to get email or use wikipedia. Also what is green about building a pc into a monitor only for it to be redundant the next year ? Pc towers are easy to repair and upgrade, taking advantage of easy to find cheap components (or high end if you like). They seem to act like a monopoly in all their business practices eg. iTunes ipod exclusivity, their purchase of Final Cut and Logic Audio and subsequent closure of windows versions - which resulted in nearly all post production houses being full of these machines. As you can tell I'm a pc evangelist. I am the only person I know who uses one. My shit runs a lot faster than theirs.
