  1. Why hyperthreading ? on Inside Intel's Core i7 Processor, Nehalem · · Score: 1

If you already have 4 to 8 cores, Why on Earth would you need Hyperthreading ?

  2. Re:Blue Sky on Intel Claims an Advance In Wireless Power · · Score: 1

Fascinating stuff. I had heard that the Earth works like a dynamo, it's spinning iron core producing the magnetic field that protects us from harmful charged particles etc. So it would seem, that rather than transmit energy through the earth's magnetic field, one might be able to tap into it.

  3. Re:What a waste of energy on Intel Claims an Advance In Wireless Power · · Score: 0

parent reply is an idiot. Tesla was OF COURSE a GENIUS. Which require an intuitive insight into phenomenon that the normal layman would have no idea how to understand let alone manipulate. Tesla INVENTED WIRELESS POWER TRANSMISSION. But this is also a very powerful weapon and shakes the energy monopolies, so guess what ? They ruined him, destroyed his lab and the government possesed all his documents labeling them top secret. At least until (gov~)Intel can pacify the work, control it, turn it into an exclusive energy weapon, maybe shoot down some satellites.

  4. Why not start a new OS as well ? on Nvidia Rumored To Be Readying X86 Chip Release · · Score: 1

They have gfx & chipset already... How about a performance based minimal OS (email, browser, mediaplayer) resulting in a streamlined standardized realtime graphics powerhouse. Kind of a new school SGI.

  7. Re:What "study"? on Study Suggests Music Industry Embrace Piracy · · Score: 1

"the only reason so many people attend the concerts or buy the t-shirts is due to a heavy promotional investment by the labels." You are deluded. The only reason people attend concerts is because the music is worth listening to live. I hope the industry dies. The worthless shit that it has produced over the past 50 years is not going to be missed, and the fallacy that the music industry has become needs to implode big time.

  8. would nasa really meet white house to discuss salt on NASA's Mars News Is Not Life, But Perchlorate · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Hmmm, I wonder what happened at the White house meeting ? (would NASA really have a meeting at the White house to discuss Perchlorate?) Maybe Bush told Nasa to bury the life on Mars story, as martians aren't in his bible.

Beautifully put(parent post). I'd definitely love to learn more about the electric universe. It certainly seems that electricity and magnetism play a far more important role in the universe than current thinking would have us believe.

What if they could do something truly revolutionary, like release another Batman film ,oooh ! Never thought of that. I wonder if it will be popular. Damn, this is thew 21st century, hello ! Do we still want to watch a dude in tights dressed as a bird ? Total wank, no different that Tim Burton's Batman, except less of Batman.

  12. Why don't they just NORMALIZE instead of compress on Sneaking Past Heavy-Handed Audio Compression on YouTube · · Score: 1

Why don't they just NORMALIZE instead of compress ? Compression changes dynamics, as in the thread descrription. Normalize would just raise the volume up to peak. No changing music, just increase volume...

  13. Re:Why? on Mars Orbiter Finds Evidence For Ancient Rivers, Lakes · · Score: 1

If we found life on Mars I think it would massively reshape humanity's centrist view of the universe. It could possible wipe religion off the face of the Earth. It could encourage us to protect our own planet. It might refocus humanity on space and the exploration of it. ie. Life on Mars would very much effect life on Earth.

Thanks for the reply. OMG why haven't I heard about this (Brooke Greenberg) ? She deserves her own thread ! Please moderate this up, this subject needs to be discussed.

  15. Re:So what if the water evaporated in the collisio on Moon May Have Once Had Water · · Score: 1

The moon has no atmosphere, it doesn't have the gravity to retain gases.

  16. Re:Water on Moon and Mars on Moon May Have Once Had Water · · Score: 1

What is all the fuss about the water being boiled off ? So the water travelled with all the other debris as steam. It then cooled when it hit the upper atmosphere / space. It's momentum carried the ice and debris out into space, eventually the moon formed. Whether the water was liquid, steam, or ice, the momentum of the impact would have sent a lot of it out into space to form the moon.

  17. Re:Water on Moon and Mars on Moon May Have Once Had Water · · Score: 1

If Mars and Earth were to share some DNA, it would not necessarily mean that life was shared between the two planets. It could also mean that basic dna was seeded to BOTH planets by meteors. I believe the chances of simple dna evolving on Earth are astronomical (clue). I think it's much more probable that basic reproductive life started once in infinite space (probably within huge hydrocarbon nebulas), and then spread.

  18. Evidence of any animal born without this disease ? on Ask Aubrey de Grey About Longevity Research · · Score: 1

Has there ever been a documented case of an animal being born without this disease ? One would think that this might be possible if we consider aging a disease. Also once an animal had this mutation, wouldn't it then have an increased chance of passing it on ? I feel like since there doesn't seem to be many mutations that prolong life expectancy, then it probably isn't very likely.

  19. US vs Japan on In Japan, a 900 Gigabyte Upload Cap, Downloads Uncapped · · Score: 1

Like it's even possible to upload 30gig in 1 day on US cable, that is never going to happen. I'd love to have a 30gig upload cap. Jeez, the speed we are at I'd be seriously amazed to download 30gig in 1 day. Funny, the US news is talking about how most US online don't even want cable - ie. they are fucking retarded.

  20. And this is a suprise ? on Apple Laptop Upgrades Costing 200% More Than Dells · · Score: 1

  21. Nvidia platform on Hands On With Nvidia's New GTX 280 Card · · Score: 1

Nvidia should write an os for their chips, and bang them into a custom nvidia board, an Nvidia only platform. It'd be the most massively parallel computing capable system out there I'm sure. Beats the trouble most exiting cpu based systems seem to be having moving into multi-threading etc.

  23. Statistically more probable life started in Space on Genetic Building Blocks Found In Meteorite · · Score: 1

Since we have not been able to spontaneously synthesis life from components after decades of research. This event seems highly improbable on the Earth (not impossible). However, in the huge solar system sized hydrocarbon Nebula found in Space, it's seems more probable that somewhere, sometime, a hydrocarbon molecule developed and once it was able to reproduce, it spread throughout the gas cloud. A passing comet would pick up and carry the molecule . The rest is history. Ultimately, I think it is statistically more likely that complex reproducing hydrocarbons formed in infinite space rather than here on a hostile volcanic earth.
