While this is good news, it also shows that poor (or just normal) people cannot afford to seek justice easily.
First of all, it probably costs a little bit to get a lawyer to compose an effective C&D letter to RIAA, secondly, it will cost a lot if an innocent person wants to meet RIAA in the court.
So why can we bear arms to protect ourselves, but there is nothing to protect us from this kind of dirty tactics?
Now labels can only sign up a singer for a couple of songs, then they need to ditch him before he becomes so popular that his songs are pirated.
For new singers, most people don't know, or cannot be bothered to download/pirate their new songs, and the only way to listen to those songs is to buy them.
Maybe charge PC vendors a "Gates" fee that is equivalent to 99% of the revenue of the OS, then charge $1 per Vista copy. So Dell can only refund $1 to the customer, but still pays about the same amount of what it would have sold in a year (assuming all PCs pre-installed with Windows).
As you do not want the Windows Vista operating system, we will refund you the purchase price you paid for it (ca. 42.29 Euro gross). I would like to ask you to send me your bank details that I can mark the payment in our system. I need: your name: bank name: city (of bank): bank code: account no: The money should be paid back within one week.
If spending $1B ensures that the majority of citizens can watch TV, especially news, it is money well spent. Where and how else would you be able to deliver your messages to the mass simultaneously?
Imagine the chaos when people have to access "news" from various/conflicting sources, and start coming up with their own minds.
I used to ask the very same question as well -- It's no wonder we can't find life elsewhere because we didn't know other ways to identify a life form.
This also reminds me of an article (of which escaped me for the moment), where Captain Something (Cook?) came to this newly discovered island and the occupants simply ignored or missed the entire fleet of exploring ships (ie they didn't reacted to this giant wooden creature floating on water), because "Ship" simply didn't register in their mind at all.
However, after spending a couple of years asking myself the identification of life form, I have simply concluded that we probably shall stick to what we know, and other kind of life forms might exist, but are less important to us because their 'form', thinking, perception etc will be so different that human would never be able to do anything useful with this new life form anyway.
While they may have the majority, if a public company is seen as incapable of adjusting according to economic trends (ie still spending big in slow economy), the share price will drop as minority shareholders start abandoning the company.
Rogers attempts to enlist, only to be rejected due to his poor constitution.
Then
A U.S. Army officer looking for test subjects offers Rogers the chance to serve his country by taking part in a top-secret defense project -- Operation: Rebirth, which seeks to develop a means of creating physically superior soldiers. Rogers volunteers for the research and, after a rigorous physical, combat training and selection process, is chosen as the first human test subject
So he was not fit to be enlisted, yet strong enough to participate in this rigorous physical, combat training and selection process?
It seems to perform a lot better when dealing with artificially-added noises than real-life images, as if it already knows how to tackle them.
This pyramid photo has basically been 'ruined' after the denoising, I wonder if we added some synthetic noises in the background while leaving the stone face as is, would this app be able to denoise correctly?
I haven't clicked on the link yet, because my Slashdot instinct warns me of goatse, can a newbie confirm the link is good by posting the actual URL (instead of tinyurl)?

Well, if only without those @#%$@ pirates.

The idea, of course, is to harvest those organs to transplant into human patients
What about cooking and eating those organs?
Well, combine that with this four-nipple cousin, plastic surgeons will be able to serve two clients with one sheep.

She can't be hot, I didn't see any heated conversion in the emails.

For a moment I thought RIAA actually won a lawsuit against Microsoft.
Either Take Two isn't posing enough threats to MS's game division, or MS-Game has learnt to play well among competitors.
MS in the software/application front is another story entirely.
Personally I will be waiting for GoogleTV, where it streams 24/7 YouTube videos produced by amateurs.
Obviously with Google's advanced technology in search and category, these videos will be sorted into different categories, genre, rating etc.
Well, if Napster can be nailed, a site that actually hosts illegal copyright materials shouldn't be able to escape so easily.
I would be more interested in knowing if Google has jumped the shark?
Rubbish! Dunn should still be expected do some light community services despite the illness.
Phone cleaning lady springs to mind, it's lightwork.

Great news. The sooner Google acts like a real corporation the better.
It's time to stop this "Don't be evil" BS and get on with its obligation to its shareholders.
Having said that, if DBE actually does bring in more profit, or BE brings down profit, Google is then expected to DBE.
In short, act like a business and protect the bottom line, not teh "line".
Well, for those who care about the difference between 250 FPS and 251 FPS in a graphic card.

As a listed company, what if Google is asked by shareholders to cut costs when the inevitable "down" periods start to kick in?
"New Google Maps Feature Unveils Local Business Details" would make more sense.
If brain implant of microchips can do it in 2005, I'm sure it's trival with a helmet in 2007.
Mr Gates did mention that 640K skilled immigrants ought to be enough for USA.

The friendly article didn't seem to mention the future of the comic, will it continue without the main actor? His son Junior? Hitler the real father?
Or maybe they can pull a Lost-stunt by drawing pages and pages of Captain America's flashbacks.
