Powell... does not aspire to power (or he covers it far better than most), he is intelligent, and he does not seem tied too closely to the idiology of either party.
I would correct your spelling, but your choice seems somehow more appropriate.
the problem with palm, is simple, they're using the same model as microsoft. microsofts business model can't possibly survive in a free market. it require vendor lock in and illegal manipulation of the market.
This sounds exactly like Apple's model, and they seem to doing quite well with it. Joe Sixpack doesn't give a damn about lock-in and manipulation as long the product reliably provides the functionality they desire.
Tying it to death of the creator would become even more complicated if more than one creator were involved -- which applies to almost everything applicable to copyright laws.
... why some other super advanced civilization didn't move some stars around to circle themselves or something and make it really obvious where they lived.
This is just good business. The store makes it's 20% from the "marks" and it also makes it's 5% from the "smarts". This is the optimal total profit it can hope to achieve from either group. By marking the printer up to a reasonable price, it would lose business from the smarts; by marking the cables down, it would lose profit from the marks.
BTW, that same grannie getting ripped off by CC/BB is probably spending a lot less than any of us on groceries, via coupons, sales, etc.
I think that's the number one problem with diet plans these days. People assume that since it worked for them it will work for everyone else. I don't think that's the case.
Eldavojohn, in this house we obey the laws of thermodynamics!
...endless repetition of "in Soviet Russia" and "our x overlords".
...no way to mod down bad ones. The "redundant" mod works nicely in these situations.
I'm pretty sure it actually does work on trolls.

...or the Daily Show.
Like I always say, every problem has an engineering solution.
Four? For this gourd? Four?! Look at it. It's worth ten if it's worth a shekel.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.
What, like a bullseye or something?

You mean like this?
I'll wager 200 Quatloos on the newcomer!
Good point -- I guess the actions that we took to stop these things must have actually worked.
