Just to play devil's advocate: how would you like it if someone taped most of your workday? I've heard that most cops actually liked the idea of video cameras in their cars because it proved that they were good cops in most cases. If I had a job that involved me being accountable for something as serious as protecting and serving citizens, then I wouldn't mind being videotaped. In most cases I'm sure this will show most cops in good light, but we'll never see those videos on the evening news.
Hopefully with all the press that this is getting retailers will realize that the game isn't pornographic, just violent and this will be the one AO rated game they carry. How will this affect online sells?
. . . you manipulate some switches, turn some keys, and press some buttons and/or pull some levers in order to perform an execution. So I can use the Mechassault controller when playing Manhunt?
I totally know what you mean. When I'm playing Bejeweled I become the jewel pieces. I become one with the game. Same with pac-man. I feel like I'm this yellow head that needs to eat dots to make it through life. I think I found your link.
I'm not a gun owner and I currently believe that humans as a whole aren't mature enough to have such liberal gun rights. But I also believe that we have these gun rights for a reason and that reason isn't to defend ourselves from robbers or home invasions, but to defend ourselves from our own government. With this current administration wanting more of the power I think gun laws should be removed. Governments should fear its people, not the other way around.
Doubtful since the internets were a buzz about the leaked Halo 3 videos that showed a little kid playing it and comparing it to an erect penis. Also you could use it if you got into a custom game.
The triceratops with the saddle is awesome. That needs to be in a movie. Oh and by they way we are all related, so my wife is actually a far of cousin. I feel dirty and full of sin now.
Don't forget that you could only walk through certain walls. The game would have been more interesting if you could walk through any wall. I also like your idea of going recon instead of just shooting your way to the end with no penalty for dying.
I hope the RIAA wins as well. I don't listen to anything on the radio in Jax, FL because it sucks. Most of the stations are owned by Clear Channel and they all play the same crap. Hopefully local bands who have been asking for radio play will get their turn at the bat.
My friends a teach (as the kids call him) and he also has a myspace account. The school did ask all teachers to set their accounts to private to prevent students from seeing anything past the default picture any blogs, comments, videos, or music that could cause parents to complain. Simple solution. He's also got a gamertag for the 360, which he does give out to some students, so they can teach us to be better players at Gears of War.
I say have a virtual rape line where you can report a perp and then the perp gets taken to the Virtual Guantanamo Bay base. Watch out for banana rats and broom handles.
This sucks. I like Yahoo Photos better than Flickr because of the unlimited storage space and 10MB file size limit, which Flickr is only 5MB. I was using Yahoo Photos as a 3rd back up for all my photos and I was able to keep them in their original high resolution which was nice. I wish it was a merge.
I would have fun with it. Write some fake letters to your wife, but make them about your sex life, but write it so gross that the unit commander will not want to read them anymore. Talk about spitting feces into each others mouth and then smearing it on a banana that you shove into your wife and she returns the favor and how the smell of feces turns you on.
Same people who thought there was a market for people wanting the PS2 for the DVD player built in and the PS3 for the Blu-Ray. I was over at a guys house the other week who bought the PS3 strictly for the Blu-Ray.
"Are they still hedging all their bets on Halo 3?"
Yes.
Which is so sad. Microsoft's BIG first party game, Halo 3, that is supposed to be their key to winning the console market:
* Only supports 16 players per game - pathetic compared to the current best console online game Resistance with 40
* No dedicated servers - Sony and PS3 developers have free dedicated servers for games
* An archaic P2P networking setup that leads to laggy online play
* Looks like a slightly upgraded version of Halo 2 on the Xbox
* And to make things even worse you are forced to pay 60 bucks a year just to play the game online
Microsoft isn't banking on Halo 3 alone. Plus none of the stuff you stated is confirmed yet. Bungie is known for lying about what will be in their next game. They even lied about working on a Halo 3 game. The P2P networking is obviously not a deterrent because on average about 40,000 people play Halo 2 each day. Let's see resistance pull those numbers 2 years from now.
But what could happen is that companies decide to put out less of their games that cost more to produce. So we could see a hardcore community that will get only franchise games that are sure bets to sell with no new content emerging that isn't casual. As much as I like Halo, I would like to see new franchises emerge, like GoW did last year and Mass Effect will most likely do this year, but there may not be a nurturing environment for it in the future.
Like when you buy a house you get title insurance just in case all the lawyers missed some old title to your house somewhere. Is there a patent insurance that protects the company from the person who patented the idea?
The 360 and PS3 are looking to downloadable content to be the money maker. Make games last longer by adding downloadable content that you pay for or, in the case of EA, allow gamers to buy their way through a game.
I noticed that as well. That doesn't seem like a lot of lobbying money. I'm no lobbiest, but I would think Congressmen would want more than a dinner and a show.
I have to say I'm scared to use Microsofts web tools after seeing what Frontpage did to web building, but at the same time, the article mentions that Microsofts new tools will meet industry standards and not try to throw in their own codes.
I'm also intrigued to see if they can keep up with Adobe in the web world. Adobe's got such a brand name that people call photo editing "photoshopping".
Okay, so reform is needed. But what's the solution, though? Is it legislation-based? Is it market-based? We have to make sure the solution doesn't fuck us over more than the problem it's trying to solve.
I've heard of a proposal where you pay a fee each year, but the longer you own the more the fee goes up. So for the first year it's $2, then it doubles from there each year. So if you are actually applying your patent to work, then hopefully your making a profit to cover the fee each year. The fee will eventually become so expensive that most owners of patents will have to stop paying. Once you stop paying the fee it becomes public domain.
This would prevent people from owning multiple patents that they do nothing with (unless you count suing people for using it.)
Hopefully with all the press that this is getting retailers will realize that the game isn't pornographic, just violent and this will be the one AO rated game they carry. How will this affect online sells?

He should really stop using Christmas lights as power cords then.

wrong. There will be a time. It's called the Extinction Period.
I say have a virtual rape line where you can report a perp and then the perp gets taken to the Virtual Guantanamo Bay base. Watch out for banana rats and broom handles.
I've been raped by a bunch of 12 years old in Halo 2. With Halo 3's film feature, it seems like now I'll have footage to turn into the police.
Wrong.
