What part of "I'm not calling you a communist" didn't you understand? I agree that they should trust their customers. But unfortunately every single person I know besides me and two others uses Kazaa to pirate music. I'm willing to bet you know quite a few too. Those people are defintely of a more communist mindset than Sony is. Sony is trying to stop them people, they are going about it the wrong way, and I won't be buying any copyprotected CDS, but they are still capitalist pigs trying to stop communist behavior.
How is a big company who wants to make money by disallowing sharing a communist? They aren't, they are the opposite of a communist, they are aa capitalist pig. Seems like you and I and just plain ole' capitalists (without the pig).
Actually your more of a communist than they are. They are capitalist pigs wanting to milk every cent out of the consumer as possible. You on the other hand want to them to do something that would make it easier for their goods to be shared equally among the masses.
I'm not calling you a communist, or even saying that your line of thinking is wrong, just that you have a strange definition of communism.
I agree whole hearedly that people will just go ahead and record from the output of a stereo. It's kind of stupid to have all this fancy protection in DVD and CDs when anybody can just go to the store and by a "decoder ring" for the thing. The output from a CD and DVD player will always be grabbable data near as I can tell.
Quality would suffer much less if you didn't use a mic on the PC though. Why wouldn't you just run the stereo out to the audio in jack on your PC via a cable?
I hate to respond to the trolls, but since a patent lawyer once told me the same thing about telemarketers I figured I give you the same response I gave him. The first amendment gives the right to free speech. The first amendment does NOT give the right to an audience. Is it any wonder the patent system is so screwed when one of their lawyers doesn't realize the difference between the two?
Hmm, I didn't know that. Are they in any of the desktop versions of the OS (Win9X) by any chacne? I don't have any of the NT based ones and no intention of ever upgrading my windows box anymore, but I would like to get rid of alot of the desktop clutter.
No kidding, grits in the apparel section, everything including the kitchen sink cabled together in mock beowulf clusters, a bunch of businesses missing that all important second step to 3.profit!!, naked statues of Natalie Portman... OK so maybe it won't be ALL bad.
Why should australia care if MS sells the XBox there? Are they in such a horrible financial situation that not having the third place console out of three consoles sales wise would hurt them that much? Or do people over there just play THAT many games? Sheesh, talk about ego on the part of Microsoft.
I think you answered yourself with the "Not that I would buy a naked-guy game part". Us guys are preverts. For some unknown reason most of us will sit and watch the most inane drivel, like baywatch, just to see a woman in a bikini. As if we couldn't get off of our lazy bums and go so a REAL woman in a bikini at the beach, or the pool.
Not to say that women aren't just as sexual, just that they have alot more control and focus over their sexuality than most men do.
My other theory is of course, that for the reasons stated above it's much easier for the average woman to get the average REAL guy naked than it is for the average guy to get the average REAL girl naked.
The easiest way to prove this is to point out that civil war was barely averted in 1833, almost three decades before slavery was even remotely in danger, because of excessively high import taxation which affected the south moreso than the industrialized north. The south felt the states should have more control over those things.
Lincoln, when elected, promised not to remove slavery. He did however raise the import tax to 47% because the south was refusing to pay the high prices that the north wanted. So slavery was never in real danger in the south, not enough for people who didn't own slaves to risk their lives.
Not to mention that several states in the north owned slaves so them fighting to merely stop slavery is just flawed logic. And of course lincoln was quoted saying that he didn't want the war to become about slavery, which he wouldn't have said if the war WAS about slavery.
Hmmm, we were just talking about slavery over in the Bass tab forums at Harmony Central. Was confederate history month moved from April or black history month moved from Feb.? Everyone seems to be thinking of the south now. Maybe in the next hundred years I'll quit having to explain to everyone that the war wasn't about slavery and southern whites don't carry confederate flags because we are racist (most of us anyway) every time someone mentions the south and someone else yells racism.
I can't find reference to it on their site now, but I could have sworn there was a 64-bit implementation of the PowerPC already also. Not the ones used in the Macs mind you. (Those are Motorola anyway).
I don't know about using the nvidia on linux xbox, but you can't compile standalone ps2 games on ps2-linux. I haven't compiled anything yet as I haven't got a sync on green monitor and the view on a TV screen is pretty lousy.
Well, for one a GeForce 4 costs almost as much as an entire XBox. I have Linux on Playstation 2 just because I like the idea of developing for a console. I guess it's one of those things where if you have to ask you'll never get it.
"So apparently, it's ok for Americans to break Russian law if they're in the U.S., but not ok for Russians to break U.S. law, even while in Russia."
That's funny, I thought Dmitry was arrested in the United States. You learn something new every day.
Maybe the congress critters would take our crys for rights more seriously if so many of us didn't run around with tin foil hats.
How do you figure that? First of all, a whole lot of the Aqua spec IS available. It's called Openstep. Secondly how is having a clone of an OS with about 8% marketshare on an OS with less than 8% market share going to put ANYBODY out of business? It's not as though the PowerPC applications are just going to run on the x86 CPUs because the API is the same. And getting Mac developers to recompile for Linux isn't very likely since Windows developers can practically do the same thing with Winelib, but aren't.
This seems very silly. Should I be worried that my ATM card will no longer work, or that I will no longer have access to my Ameritrade account? Both of those things use PIN's. PIN's aren't a technology. I get so sick of people misusing the term technology. Clicking a mouse button isn't technology either, but that didn't stop amazon from getting a patent. One arsehole even has a patent on waving a laser in front of a cat for chissakes!
Britney isn't the best spokesperson for something that requires a thought.
"I go to lot's of overseas places, like Canada"
"My love for New York is indefinite."
"Where the hell is Australia anyway?"
(paraphrase)"I covered 'I love rock and roll' because I'm a big Pat Benatar fan"
"Downloading music is like stealing a CD"
Does the RIAA really want those quotes associated with one another? To late now I guess.
What do you mean we don't have either? I don't know about player pianos, but real pianos are still all over the place. Furthermore I'll take a human playing a piano over a MIDI electronic keybord playing itself anyday.

Hey look! Microsoft finally invented multiple desktops. I've been wondering when they were going to make that innovation.
Look further down the list and you'll see he also recently sold 20 million shares of stock.

Oh, OK, I'm an idiot! Apologies to the original poster! :)
Where in the blue hell did you hear that the developer license for Mac OS X costs money. The OS ships with developer tools.

Bah, back in my day, mice didn't have ANY buttons. Just teeth, ornery little buggers!

Haha! I don't know why but reading that I imagined a late night talk show host. You should write for Conan O'Brian! :)

Would you REALLY want gillgan near a homemade nuclear reactor?
My iBook doesn't look like a toilet bowl, it looks like... a laptop. Where have you been shopping for laptops, home depot?
