So tell me then, when does this stop? If it continues to dissipate energy simply due to "gravitational heating", I think we should award you the nobel prize for the first ever perpetual motion machine thereby proving all science wrong.

I don't deny they are not hot initially, but they must start cooling immediately. With no outside energy source, they'd end up as (perhaps?) solid cores hurtling through space.

Has a white dwarf ever been found? It seems a white dwarf would surrounded by a nebula from a supernova(according to the above link). Is there one in this system? (I haven't checked) A supernova would necessitate a large star. Can white dwarf stars form from smaller stars? Would they be called something else since they wouldn't result from a supernova?

Also, if smaller stars can produce white dwarf stars, is it even possible they could have burned out by now? (since smaller stars burn more slowly) Anyone with sufficient depth of knowledge care to clarify?

Relieve traffic congestion downtown with a scooter like device? It would have to be alot better than that though. Up here in Canada, it would get mighty cold riding one of them things to work.

I think you are SO way off base it's not even funny. Darwin is the foundation of OS X. It's a complete BSD system running on a Mach kernel. I've used it quite a bit and the only thing different from my standard linux installation on my Athlon box(aside from kernel differences) is configuration.

Darwin uses Netinfo(from NEXT) and xml, and linux uses standard SysVinit style startup scripts and text files for configuration. Those things alone do not define a Unix, the philosophy behind the OS design and its structure defines a Unix. Darwin has full glibc AFAIK and gcc. Everything is a file. Symlinks, shells, XFree, Apache, etc. are all part of Darwin(which by default boots into a simple console by the way).

So I think you're just seriously misinformed.

I don't believe memories are stored in the axons themselves. I recall reading an article (perhaps Scientific American) which placed memory storage in a long molecular chain that the brain constructs as memories are moved into long-term storage. Immediate memory is certainly accessed from axons for rapid processing and such, but long term storage was placed in this long chain which the article said had incredible storage potential.

The brain searched along this chain and could remove a part of the chain which corresponded to the desired memory. But obviouvsly anyone who's taken any chemistry knows that getting exact results with chemistry is like voodoo, so naturally the brain might even end up with parts of neighbouring memories(and hence mixing up these memories and recalling them together). I can't recall all the details now because I read the article about two years ago, but that's the jist of it. So your I'm afraid your analysis is flawed. The brain is not exactly like a neural net. Too simple a model.
