Seriously don't ask why people pirate your games, if you are not important enough for people to already know what games you made.
I mean if Will Wright asked me this I could answer, if Richard Garriott asked me this I could answer, but for goodness sakes if you are a nobody at least list the games you've created.
Because it is far easier for me to separate my sister from a relapse trigger, a close friend of mine, than for her to realize that what she considers real isn't.
Often times family or friends that are close to someone, want to be able to blame someone, they want to be able to get vengeance, they want a scapegoat, a way to make themselves feel like they did something. A way for them to feel like their child's/sister's/friend's death wasn't in vain. Often times the law is used to this end.
It's a relatively simple procedure to create a program that reads the incoming license plate data and identifies the location of the police vehicle which took it and then to archive the location of said license plate. In fact I could probably write a program to do it install it on the server and then have it E-mail me this information on a daily basis. Actually this may not be such a bad thing if we could get our hands on it. After all, license plate information has never been used with ill intent right.;D
First of all if both of those were true it would be a very bad thing, as we haven't encountered intelligent life yet it stands to reason that there is something out there that is stopping intelligent life from spreading and mapping the stars and encountering us. Thus for both these things to be commonplace means we would have yet to encounter whatever this great tribulation is. If instead one of these two things are not common then we have already passed a great hurdle and eventually will be the race to colonize our galaxy and eventually the universe.
For more information about this type of thinking you would look up works and articles by Frank Drake or Carl Sagan, also any articles related to the Fermi paradox are rather interesting.
Won't this just mean that ISPs will become responsible for content now? So if I see some child pornography I can sue my ISP for not properly enforcing their own standards?
This isn't so much going over to someones house randomly and saying whatever you want.
This is like them inviting you over saying "Don't cuss." and then when you say "Look at that fine mule you have, yes that is a rather fine ass." they take ducktape and tape up your mouth, then say "If you don't like it you can leave."
This type of solution solves nothing (People will always find ways to share files illegally, just like people will always find ways to do illegal drugs), increases tension (Any regulatory legislation or law increases tension between those that create and enforce the laws and those the law is being enforced upon), and removes a useful service. (Peer to Peer is used for many purposes outside of illegal file sharing.)
Besides, the only people pushing for this type of legislation are large companies and their shareholders. As a regular Joe, I can say I can disagree strongly with this.
Why can't we have an ISP that advertises the fact that it doesn't interfere with your traffic that it doesn't track the information you transfer or track packet use.
You would think corporate America would have this cropping up, or is this like telephone companies, small start up internet companies can't compete against the big dogs?
1. Visit a competing company
2. Acquire access to the internet
3. Download things illegal and don't get caught save evidence of illegal download though
4. Report company
5. Repeat step five
6. ???
7. Profit
Those of us who have lived through these policies and understand how detrimental they are to the school system will be able to support change in the school system. I for one would rather my child be segregated so that he can get the attention he needs. Whether he ends up in the low end of the system or the high end. As long as both systems get the same funding then it shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, thanks...
After looking at the games though my point still stands, he really isn't anyone big I'm surprised anyone actually bothers to pirate his software.

FBI Agent 1: We need two more computers for Dave and Terry.
FBI Agent 2: It's cool let's just grab it from the local library.
I wasn't necessarily disagreeing with your post, I was adding new information or a new perspective.

My doctor didn't tell me that I could exercise instead of taking the medicine!!!!(age 21)
I know it isn't the point of your post but you seriously only need at most a $100 dollar torque wrench for accurate results.
So basically all we need is human-level thinking computers and we might find E.T. life?
Not the first time I've heard this idea, but it is rather smart you just have to be creative with how you write your code.
Hah, funniest thing about that is proper way to dispose of an American flag IS to burn it.
I thought Slashdot was blocked by the Great Chinese Firewall?

This just goes to show the increasing gap between what politicians think American's want and what we really want.

Dear God No!!!
I recall a comic a while back, where it showed the two nominees...
The Democratic stating that he wanted to wasn't really sure whether he wanted to eat babies or not.
The Republican stating he wanting to eat babies.
The people voted for the republican because at least they KNEW where he stood on the issue.
Google Trends.
Anybody have this guys E-mail Address, home address, phone numbers? Just curious.... No reason.

One of most interesting biological articles in a long time and the first 20 posts that are modded up are about a mistake/slip up on the temperature.
