The truth is that trailer parks are often located on crappy vacant land. I.e. land prone to flooding or wind damage that nobody with any sense would build anything valuable on. So some cheap trailer park developer buys it and rents out cheap lots.
Actually, no. Thats not true. But we're glad your type doesn't want to live here. Twenty years ago I probably couldn't have stood living here in smalltown Indiana either, but electronic connectivity has changed everything. There's plenty of reachable culture and connectivity here in flyover country, without a lot of the downsides of dense urban living.
But forget I said anything. Its better for me if you stay where you are.
I agree that thefirst Star Wars movie was pretty good. I saw it in the theatre when it came out. I have pointedly not ruined it by viewing any of the sequels.
So what you're saying is nothing in his comment meant enough to reflect on, so you flicked it away with an "it's human nature" bromide? That's lazy, man. What he said bugged you. But maybe you just want to brush it off and move on. Ok.
I once installed Windows NT on PPC. I had this old IBM ppc machine I had bought at a surplus auction and itwas the PREP architecture that NT would run on. Every old NT 3.51 disk, even an oem CD from Compaq (the kind I had) includes the ppc/alpha/mips install binaries on it in addition to x86.
It was pretty pointless. There is absolutely nothing else you can install. Even the IE on NT was 2.0.
Or you stick a scope probe accross the capacitor and look for noise/ripple. But judging from the level of most comments here, that isn't a very realistic suggestion. Slashdot appears to be mostly IT types now, not the nerds of the past.
Will the Microsoft toolchain be availabe in the App Store? Probably not. Will Microsoft allow a free toolchain, i.e. the Gnu one? Likely not. Will GPL'd software even be possible?
The cheap ARM tablets are aimed at killing either the Android or the iPad platform, though. If the Microsoft Surface platform suceeds and becomes either the first or second place tablet platform, there will be hundreds of millions of less than $300 Windows8/ARM devices out there quite rapidly.
Clearly Apple has enough money to have people out cherry-picking to find examples where their Mapping software isn't pitiful. But that's Marketing Staff hires.
Nobody? I very seriously regret upgrading the iOS on my iPod Touch. A magazine I used to subscribe to that had a stand-alone app is now sucked into the "Magazine Rack" abomination and it's become significantly more difficult to read the mag.
The on-device App Store really, really, REALLY sucks compared to the old one.
The Rest Of Us (tm) can have our own opinions, however.
If you're a fuck on Wall Street who makes money by speculating, Apple has been a good horse to bet on. But all of us out here aren't Apple investors, and many of us could give a flying fuck how 'successful' Apple has been. We're more concerned about the ways that Apple is damaging the markets they're trying to dominate.
Why does it need to be one Android comapny that dethrones Apple.
In my perfect world there are a multitude of vendors, all competing and all having products with different things that make them attractive. No one company has to 'dethrone' Apple. Apple can kill themselves by trying to 'go it alone' with their vertically leveraged niche product. The same way they did with the Macintosh.
If you are suggesting that Romney's religion makes him a complete moron, then I would remind you that President Obama also believes in a magic ghost in the sky.
People slimed John F. Kennedy for his religion much the same as they are Romney. Kennedy was a Roman Catholic, and in fact the first Roman Catholic ever elected President.
It is so disappointing to see the way a man's religion is used to slime him by supposedly 'open minded, progressive' types.
The cornerstone of the free market is that if there is only one ISP in your area you can open a competing ISP. It is goverment enforced monopoly arrangements that prevent this.

Two floors up would have sufficed. No reason to put it way up high.

Its probably a good time to acknowledge lotsa dudes are getting overtime to prepare.

You're spending a lot of time posting comments in a thread you could have just skipped over, then.
No, I think theres more to it. You object to the rest of us having this discussion. Right? Or why your comments?

Tux Racer should be good enough for any kid. If he complains, remove his emacs and make him learn vi.

they did not set expectations properly for the new Maps app.
They should have recommended all iPhone users invest in a stand-alone GPS unit 'for during the transition' I guess.

True, from an Apple investor's point of view.

He is on the record as saying the Apple "over promised, and under delivered" on Maps
Some things stink so bad that it would be a mistake for any shill to try to pretend otherwise.

If Romney wins, who is going to clean up the inside of your cocoon when your head explodes?

So, how dumb is it to introduce fresh oxygen to a fire? Fail on all counts.
Umm, when you're part of the fuel and would like to not be part of the fuel... it's not so dumb.
And why does some random political G+ comment by Linus make Slashdot front page?
Because Slashdot is batshit crazy.
Yep. It's also for people who make really poorly done videos that make fun of Mohammed.
And batshit leaders who apologize for that freedom can foad.

if you want to be able to retain your geek card,
I'm a nerd. 'Geek' is a designer label they put on stuff sold in the Fashion Mall.
