Well, a mandatory two-key sequence would also protect me from accidental spacebar presses. And don't get me started on the shift key.
Actually, the shift key actually HAS been a problem recently, in the Android version of Firefox (and probably translates over to a lot of other Android apps). It's really easy when fumbling around on the touchscreen to enter symbols to end up back in alphanumeric mode with caps-lock on.
My Galaxy Tab has that connector, too. Bu there is a nice little adapter Samsung sells that plugs into it to provide a USB host connector. So combined with the micro-SD card, which most people stick semi-permanently in their android device for more storage, any generic USB thumb drive, or camera that acts as a drive, etc., can be plugged in for quick transfers.
Its the opposite of how things work on Apple devices, which is to say it's practical convenient connectivity.
People who think you just need to get out of tech.
Go be a lawyer somewhere. Or go into marketing.
Apple lost the desktop war because they refused to play and collaborate with others. They wanted the whole deal for themselves.
A lot of us grudgingly use Windows on the desktop, but at least we have a huge variety of choices of hardware to run on it. If Apple had won we'd all still be using beige Macs.
The other Steve closed up computers for quite a spell. He actually boasted that the Macintosh was 'hacker proof' at the product announcement, and by this he meant that it was difficult to physically open, and completely non-expandable.
Which parts of the bible? Remember, the whole first half of the bible was pre-Christian, and there is plenty in there that would not have been considered Christian by Christ at the time when he was on Earth.
It makes the way some of the more 'conservative' Christians struggle to interpret every single thing written in the Old Testament totally O.K. see a little silly.
That was frightening. What we have now is just disgusting.
Crony capitalism by the Chicago Political Machine. Scaled up.
People better get used to the fact that historians are going to work through the history. Tammany Hall II is what I suspect it'll be considered eventually. Ol Big Ears won't make it to a coin or stamp, except maybe an 'all the Presidents' chronological series. Neither will Bush, of course.
I have always thought that there should be a convergence in textbooks. What worked well in the past should be improved on. They shouldn't at this point require any major reworking, at least not for pedagogical topics taught at the Primary to Undergraduate levels like Math, Physics, etc.
They should by this point in time be nearly public domain at this point. But there's the problem. Dude can't afford that corduroy jacket with the leather elbow patches if students aren't forced to buy 'his' Calculus textbook.
"Rampant Syndrome Syndrome"- a disorder where cobbled together Latin terms are mistaken for proper nouns.
Social Science is not yet a science. Psycology is a political ideology. Much as a lot of people wish this weren't the case, it is. Also, a revenue stream if you took too many classes and figured out how to never, ever, have to leave campus.
Let's talk about today's marketplace, not what was happening in the 90's.
Otherwise, maybe we should be watching Standard Oil, since they were operating a Monopoly in the 90's, too. (the 90's of the preceding century if I recall properly)
Microsoft haters (I am not a Microsoft fanboy myself) grip that anti-trust finding against Microsoft for dear life, as if it's a club they can personally use to batter Microsoft. Grow up.
But that's a shame. I hope the Model 100 wasn't working when it was gutted. That's probably the only way to kill one.
It isn't that impressive to gut a Model 100 and just use it's keyboard. The resultant machine still needs to be connected to a big display the way that one is done.
I think you mean the 'resistive touchscreen' as opposed to the'capacitive touchscreen' that is common now. The resistive touchscreens need the stylus.
I have an Android tablet that I bought about a year ago that has a resistive touchscreen and a stylus. I bought it to 'check out' android cheaply without needing to buy a cellphone. It's nowhere near as nice as my new capacitive touchscreen tablet. But it was cheap at the time.
Remember, we're on apple.slashdot.org right now, not the regular slashdot that nerds hang out on.
From the way this subdomain of slashdot fosters shills and astroturfers for Apple, I sometimes get the feeling Apple might be paying the electric bill for the server apple.slashdot.org runs on.
And Apple just released their own maps with iOS 6. Guess why they are doing that.
Because they have a history of copying shit.
I think the grandparent poster mean third party competitors. Not third party vassal slaves.

I knew something was fishy right in the title. It started with $20 and had GNU in it.
Yeah, I know, I know. Don't recite the GPL at me. I'm an apostate. Rage on if necessary.
You cannot steal ideas, writings, software, music, or movies, and no amount of copyright lobbyist Doublethink
Nice chunk of libertarian doublethink there.
That particular GM crop, which was genetically tuned to respond to Roundup.
Or, when you have earned or created something somebody else wants to steal from you. Just wait awhile and see.
That anybody, or any entity, anywhere paid anything for YoVille is kind of scary.
We weren't talking about iTunes.

Woz was long gone when the Mac was created by Apple. He created the Apple 1 and the Apple ][.
And Jobs created a cult. He did an actual pilgrimage to one of the charlatan gurus in India, ya know, and learned a lot.
The other Steve closed up computers for quite a spell. He actually boasted that the Macintosh was 'hacker proof' at the product announcement, and by this he meant that it was difficult to physically open, and completely non-expandable.
It took years for the Mac to open up.
'A computer in every home' was Bill Gates' dream.
'A Lawyer in every computer store' was Jobs.
Well, no. Web development in general is not 'full blooded.'
It's a markup language, guys. Deal with it.

Now you're just doing what an AOL user does. Mistaking Slashdot for the whole Internet.
Second moral of the story: a Best Buy link is always a red flag.
The kind of shopper who frequents an Apple Store is likely the kind who wouldn't blink at going to Best Buy either.

I'm not sure an apple borg would work.
