If you have a Korean market near you, you can easily find cans of silkworm pupas in some sort of paste/sauce. My mom used to get them (she's Korean) until she realized what it was she was buying/eating.
Remember a month or so ago when so many people here were saying what a stupid idea it was that Obama wanted to create a CTO position for the government? Isn't this exactly the sort of thing that someone in that position would be involved in sorting out?
My employer implemented a schedule like this last summer. They're planning on doing it again for 4 or 5 months starting in March or April. It's really pretty nice. Basically, while they're in effect you need to work an extra hour each day. How you do this is up to you. I ended up splitting the difference--get in 30 minutes early and stay 30 minutes longer. Since it was company-wide all the meeting schedules were adapted pretty quickly. It's worth it to have a 3-day weekend every other weekend. Makes setting up trips/vacations a whole lot easier.
Be wary of most accountants, there's a reason it's not offered as a major at top schools -- having brains in the field is more often a detriment than a benefit.
The sad thing is that's true of just about every field....
Did you play BioShock last year? That had a fair amount of pre-rendered video. The thing is that they actually blended it in pretty well. It wasn't until I was done playing and I wanted to watch the other endings that I realized just how many scenes were pre-rendered instead of rendered on-the-fly.
I'm running it on my Dell Mini 9 and it runs beautifully. All the things that I liked about Vista (and less of the things I don't like), with the overall performance of the XP install I had on here before. It's really pretty nice on a netbook.
Do you have any tips on installing to a DVD-less netbook? I have a USB CD-RW, but I don't have a USB DVD drive, but I'm wondering if I could share the drive from my desktop PC over the network and use that to install. Any tips?
I've been using an xbox 360 HD DVD drive myself. I'm not aware of a way to share a drive from a desktop off the top of my head, and it probably partly depends on what type of netbook you have, too. But I'd check out some forums for your machine and see if there are any suggestions or if there's a way you can install off a USB thumbdrive or something.
I happened to pull up the webpage a few minutes after I got back home and saw that it was live. So I signed into my Live account and grabbed the 32-bit version (gonna slap it onto my Mini 9--it's nice having a small expendable machine around--though OS X is running really smoothly on it at the moment). Anyhow, their buggy sign-in system ended up giving me two license keys. So I went back to the download page and opted for the 64-bit version, too. Again, it gave me 2 license keys. Anyone else getting this?
Suddenly, we have a level 20 cap that you reach after 10 hours of gameplay (if you were foolish enough to take the XP perks, than even sooner.)
I just completed the game last weekend. About 34 hours of gameplay according to the save file. I only made it up to level 18. I'm curious to know specifically what you did to get to level 20 so quickly. I realize you get way more XP for different choices, but 10 hours seems like a bit of a stretch.
And it's always fun when it gets a little glitchy. I love seeing the driver/car marker pointing to some empty space off the track. Probably doesn't happen as much anymore, but it seemed to happen fairly regularly when I'd watch some races with a friend 3 or 4 years ago.
Have you tried contacting your DSL provider to see if there's a problem with your line?
I've had DSL in 4 locations over the past 13 years (tested it for Bell Atlantic in 1996) and Cable in 2 locations. The only times I didn't get advertised speeds was at certain times of day with the cable accounts (not surprisingly). Otherwise, they could hit peak most of the time, and I've always been able to hit peak with my DSL lines.
Sooooo...The results of this study show that excessive intake of caffeine makes you high-strung? Fascinating.

The depths of the ocean are just creepy.
Wow, man. That's deep!
Where's the "+1, Disgusting" mod?

Feel free to delete both of them moderators.
Wow! You really are new here, aren't you?

I thought of something that should be a pretty simple fix. Why don't they just string the wires over the Mediterranean?

Approximately 1 fuckton (1.21 metric fucktonnes) of people still only have 32-bit processors at their disposal.
You geeks and your fancy kitchens. My disposal is just a simple on/off switch hooked up to a motor. No 32-bit logic in there...
I'd say your best bet is just throwing 30 or 40 bucks at a 160 or 250GB hard drive.

Isn't that, like, almost the name of the Steven King movie? The one wih the rabid dog?
No no no. You're thinking of Carrie.
I completely forgot about that. I should watch that movie again sometime.
At least you're insightfully offtopic.

It's got USB ports, so you can easily add a second keyboard for some marathon sessions of two-player Notepad!

I can imagine this being an epic fail, if your specs aren't good enough.
If they're not "good enough" you should just be able to contact NVIDIA for a pair that works...
Sounds like the basis for a scary story.

Why don't we spend some time and money on something more important than shiny new toys?
You're absolutely right. I think it's time companies go back to matte finishes on things.
