I'm not sure about you, but when I spec parts for computer cooling, I'm looking for something that's cool AND quiet. I don't want whatever device to be creating extra sound in it's quest to cool more efficiently.
Tom, why are you so concerned about this? I mean, you live in Canada, after all. Seeing as how none of these people will ever be able to represent you as a constituent, it seems you should save your outrage for when your own government starts talking about taxing you.
I was thinking the same thing. Atricle Published: May 23, 2007. Who is reviewing these articles?
That would be CmdrTaco. And from the department line (from the everybody-freak-out-like-the-last-fifty-times dept.), it would appear that he knows it's a dupe... : p
Another would be that, having found at least 31 sunken vessels, he's tested his software enough to be able to confidently extrapolate that it would be effective to 16,000m beneath the waves.
From the article, the 31 sunken vessels claim is coming from him. Does anyone have anything that actually backs this number up?
When DVD John hacked CSS wasn't it by taking apart a physical player? I thought he pulled apart an actual DVD player to do it, but maybe I heard wrong.
Nope. The keys were pulled from a software DVD player. A similar (but slightly more difficult) method was used for the AACS keys.
Why bother with a different voice? Or even a different name for that matter? Just have the one person insist that they are in fact different people all with the same first name.
I fully understand what is stated there. However, if you go back up to the top of the thread, Rix's statement is: "It's perfectly legal for me to buy a CD and make copies for all of my friends..." I merely asked for him to point to something that supports that statement. Everything that I've found and been pointed to (including your "idiot-speak" summary above) directly contradicts his claim that it's "perfectly legal for [him] to buy a CD and make copies for all of [his] friends." Again, I understand the private use provisions that allow you to make copies of CDs that you have in your possession (no matter how you may have obtained them [eg, borrowing from a friend, library, theft, etc]). I'm merely pointing out that his claim that it's perfectly legal for him to reproduce with the intent to distribute (which is what his initial claim is) isn't covered under the law.
Well, my company just spent close to 200 bucks for an inkjet cartridge (yes, one) for our new postage meter. Not quite the same, but pretty freakin expensive...
Good job. You win by saying "Because I said so." Way to prove your point. It seems that if what you claim is true, there'd be at least one reputable source on the internet that backs you up. To bad I can't seem to find anything, and it seems that you can't either.
And again, you're deliberately not providing what I've asked for by not pointing me to something that explicitly backs up your claim. Again, your saying "But I'm allowed to" doesn't make it so. Then again, it's clear that you don't feel that you need to back up claims that you've made.
I'm still waiting for you to provide something official that actually states what you claim is legal. You saying "but I'm allowed to do it" doesn't make it so. You are the one making the claims, the burden of proof is on you. From the Wiki page on the private copying levy, it indicates that in Canada that you are allowed to make a copy of a disc for your own private use (something which I'm not disputing), but it also explicitly states that you can't distribute that copy. Again, giving that copy to a friend constitutes distribution. Please show me something that explicitly states that what you claim is legal.
I can broswe the internet with it (granted it's slow due to the b wireless connection it has, but hey it's still got wireless access)
You must have some ridiculously fat pipes if it's the 802.11b WiFi that's slowing you down...
I didn't know the Terminator's first name was Gene...
How long until I can get myself an IG88 motherboard?
Seriously though, how hard is it to type "RAID" into Google?
Not hard at all...

And what does this have to do with guns (or giants, depending on how you interpret the acronym)? I only ask because you brought it up...

Now where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, here! And it's even a link to the exact same article...

Now your talking! ; )
Hehehehe. Editors. Good one...
FRACK! This leaves a big whole in the Sci-Fi channel line up.
A big whole what?
I almost threw one 'looser' in there for precisely this reason. To bad I didn't. ; ) [That one's for you.]

Looks like I'll be ditching the 'beta' soon...
GOD can't you do anything without being spoonhead you bonehead user!
Spoonhead? That's one I've never seen before. Maybe I should go add it to the Eggcorn Database...
When someone on /. calls someone a loser, it MEANS they are a loser.
Yeah, only a loser would call a loser a loser. Loser.
It's all in the editing. [T]he average person is...a prick.
