I would think the hardest part and/or biggest inneficiency would be finding a place with enough clean/cold water to run the cooling loop. Although the climate is pretty dry so a closed loop tower system could work pretty well with a nice supply of ground water somewhere.

grade inflation is a big problem between school as there is no longer an accurate scale.

At my university (Purdue) a C in an engineering class means that you have a solid understanding of the material and should be allowed to move on. A C is pathetic in many other engineering programs I hear about. In a core curriculum class, about 20% fail the first time through. In order for the degree to mean something, it has to be tough. It took me 3 tries to get through differential equations (now that's because I'm bad at them and a couple outside factors). I don't blame the university for any of it. I think a lot of it happens when, at least from my anecdotal experience including myself, get tired of the idea of being an engineer by late sophmore/early junior year. I'm going to be a senior, but I've started to find myself much more fascinated with economics as I learn more about it which makes the motivation required to do the gobs of work that much harder.

As far as the repitition, it's far less repetetive than any engineering job which is mostly figuring out the social aspect of dealing with the same problem 10 times with 10 different personalities.

When we look at 9/11 and the failure of communication between various law enforcement agencies, it is clear that we cannot have a law enforcement system where one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. The Patriot Act, for all its faults, is trying to address this need by opening up and sharing the law enforcement databases so that vital information is not overlooked or ignored simply because it is not available The problem with this is, rather than try and fix communication issues, they decided the solution was more monitoring by more agencies to allow more things to be communicated. The previous survailence laws were plenty sufficent to do what the government needed with a bit of re-orginization. Law Enforcement agencies should have shared their info with each other and Military Intelligence/CIA. The non Law Enforcement intelligence should stay on it's side of the wall, though.

And light does not have a 'particle state'--it can be modeled as a particle, sure, but it really isn't. Light waves do not have "amplitude". And it is a particle and a wave at the same time, as are you. The concept is hard to get around at first. Either way, it can certainly be quantized and a single photon has a finite amount of energy based solely on it's frequency. The intensity is the sum of the total energies of the individual photons. If this were not the case, a lot of spectroscopy would be bunk.

I've talked to multiple people who have seen current day Iraq and Vietnam during the Tet offensive and say that Iraq is vastly more dangerous. The lack of KIAs is because of better engagement strategies and /.'s friend technology. Also if a soldier can be kept alive long enough to get to Ramstein AFB in Germany, they don't count it as an Iraq casualty.
