In Star Trek 5, when rocketing up the Turbo Shaft, why did the Enterprise suddenly have 72 decks numbered from bottom to top? I hope somebody got fired for that!
I went to Siggraph last year and Mr. Shatner and Dick van Dyke were at the Newtek Booth introducing the new version of Lightwave. A few days later I called my mom, told her about seeing those two guys up close, yadda yadda yadda. I made a comment about how it'd be cool to have lunch with either one of those dudes, but I figured it'd be easier to strike up a converstaion with Dick van Dyke becuase we both use Lightwave.
And my mom goes: "Well, if you had lunch with Dick van Dyke, you could talk about Lightwave. If you had lunch with William Shatner, you could talk about William Shatner!"
Yeap, because there is a great anti-Apple conspiracy out there... maybe you just think that the attitude has changed because you feel violated at any perceived attack upon Apple.
Or maybe this site spends too much time fanning the flames with sensationalist stories and there are too many opinionated thickies to notice that.
Actually, Macs are so common in Hollywood that I bought a Macbook Pro and use BootCamp to run Windows on it so I can work comfortably in either environment. I paid more for it, but I don't regret it. It's like being bi-lingual, especially at delivery time. If you ever visit any production, and I do mean *any* production, you'll find so many Macs you'll start to wonder if their marketshare is really only ten percent.
Your use of the term 'real work' is misleading. Whether you're sending emails, entering into spreadsheets, or building complex 3D models, it's all work that has to get done. Downplaying it by calling it 'real work' is the same sort of elitist bullshit that earned Apple fans their reputation.
You can use something like Air Sharing to puy pics etc on the iPad through wifi. Basically it sets up a simple webserver and you just hit it from your web browser and upload the file. You can also, instead of wifi, use the USB cable and *any* copy of iTunes (do NOT sync!) to copy that file into air sharing. I work in a place with no wifi or ethernet, this is how i get quicktimes etc onto my iPad without syncing.
The downside, however, is that those pictures etc arent put into your photo album, instead they reside only within the Air Sharing app. (It might be possible to transfer, but I never tried.) The silver lining is that Air Sharing has a feature where you can password protect the folder your pics etc are in.
It's counter intuitive, but at least it's not a total wash. Apple's arrogance is annoying.
Nerds are another form of hipster. If something is mainstream, they start hating it to make themselves appear to have more sophisticated tastes.
And yes, I am speaking from experience. I tend to be overly critical of popular movies just to look cool. I like to think I've toned that down in recent years.
In the song Space Suit there's a very distinctive tonal quality that sounds very much like it was modulated using a Cooper 1138 or maybe a 1138-A. Was this a bold artistic choice or were you just using it for the first time and you forgot to turn the Korg variance down to a more modest level? Just curious because to a pro like me it's like listening to a Casio keyboard on display at K-mart.
Would a card like this be helpful in any way for adding a 3rd or 4th display to your computer? Possibly still with some 3d accelleration, even if it's relatively slow?

Mr. Shatner,
What was your reaction when you saw Galaxy Quest for the first time?

Apple sells upscale products at a premium...
Your 'upscale products' are priced at a little above impulse purchase range. We're talking about cell phones and tablets here, not Hyundai and Lexus.

That's what happens when mod points are just given away to anybody. That's also why the GroupThink exists.
Out of curiosity, do you live in Sebastopol?
Interesting coincidence brewing here...

If nerds could really detect idiocy there would be no flame wars.

Thirty years are coming to an end and now you're even older...
Is 'firefox' a browser or a unit of currency in Italy?
Of course you don't, you watch a lot of sci-fi.
"The company worked closely with Microsoft's Digital Crimes Unit (DCU)...."
These are their stories.
What crawled up her butt?
Who said the life couldn't form? It's just heaps easier to start with what we know.
Err... I think I misread your post. Im sorry man.
Well.. I checked and it's just some multiplication problem. Hmmm I wonder what the answer is?
Okay, so you finally read the article and agree that his statement isn't true, right?
