(OR, didn't YOU troll ME, first, there?) You sure can "dish it out", but you cannot take it... and you RAN like the trolling coward you are... lol! apk
Umm, you look worse than he does, dude. Chasing him into another thread shows that you're the one with unfinished business.
Same here. Funny how they say they got 9x faster graphics and 2x faster CPU, but didn't bother implementing retina display, which, at it's worst-case point, would take a 4x higher toll on the device (assuming quadrupling total pixel count).
I think the manufacturing of the higher-res displays was the problem. Either they ended up being too expensive or there were too many defects.
I need a tablet to read stuff. I want to do it in a way that would match the visual experience of reading a book.
I work in the art departments of various movies. Lots of reference images and paintings floating around. I would reaaaaally like to go paperless. I'm not the only one, the iPad is popping up all over Hollywood. It may even finally convince the big-wigs that wireless internet should be part of every facility. I also know a couple of photographers that would love to have a high-res iPad for reviewing photos.
... and are seriously contemplating already buying the second one.
Uh huh, right. Nobody on Slashdot would understand the concept of finding something useful and contemplating whether it's worthwhile to upgrade. Mr. Jobs really is waving his voodoo around here, wooOOoo wooOOooo. Anyway, see you in the next Android Tablet thread.
...seriously, who cares how thin it is? Most people I know would just prefer a nice long lasting battery that is user-replaceable.
Don't count me among them. I haven't wanted to switch the battery, probably because the non-removable battery is bigger than the alternative you suggest. I do, however, appreciate how rigid the body feels and would prefer that to not be weakened.
There's a little lesson in this for everybody in this thread: The more noisy you get about something, either pro or con, the more likely it is somebody's going to stoke the fire with comments like this. Think about that the next time you decide to bring product A into a thread about product B.
But Microsoft does sue companies that make products with names similar to Windows. They sued Lindows. If Microsoft can successfully sue over the Windows trademark, why can't Apple successfully sue over the App Store trademark?
One wrinkle in that whole debacle was that the screenshots for Lindows looked like Windows. Some random dude going to Walmart and looking at the box for a Lindows equipped computer could think he's getting a machine compatible with the laptops he saw in the other aisle. Unless this other App Store is somehow making people think they're buying something they're not (I have trouble imagining that...) that could very well be a big enough distinction.
Hahaha. I suppose the irony of that statement was lost. Anyway, I'll ask again: Are you recommending it because you own one or did you just do a Google search?
You're paying for OS X, for an aluminum unibody, for an awesome keyboard and high-res screen.
Don't forget the slim body and the tiny power brick that, for reasons I'll never understand, hasn't been copied by the rest of the industry. My company sent me on a shoot once with a Dell laptop that had a power brick that looked at home next to an XBOX 360. F'n ridiculous.
I can tell you if there's one guy out there who's so totally humble
It's Hollywood, so yes, there's only one guy out there who's humble.
Actually most of them are. I'm sorry to suck the fun out of this well-established generalization, but this reputation is something that scared me when I first started working on movies. Instead of working with egotistical prima donnas like I expected, instead I met a lot of kind people who were eager to help me out. Maybe it's just because they're nice people or maybe it's just because movie making only really works when people work as a team. Couldn't tell you. What I can tell you is that I've dealt with a good deal less ego in this career than I did working at web startups back in the dot-com days.
I can't speak on behalf of this guy's intelligence, but I am reluctant to conclude he's an idiot. My guess is that this guy is not so gullible in general, but that he let down his guard here because he really wanted to believe it was true.
Well said. I think if the commenters here would get past their 'smarter-than-everyone' mentality, they'd have a bit more sympathy for the dude. We all act dumb for love, that's why it's such a common topic on sitcoms.

I'll admit to speaking from experience.

Mas pixels por favor.
The fact that you bought the first one...
That is not a fact, that is an assumption.
... and are seriously contemplating already buying the second one.
Kept you from buying anything else, didn't it?
No. The copycat nature and ho-hum'ness of 'anything else' is what kept me from buying it.
It's a thinner, faster, more expensive iPhone - sans the phone?
When you go car shopping, do you have trouble discerning the difference between a pickup and a sedan?
Don't count me among them. I haven't wanted to switch the battery, probably because the non-removable battery is bigger than the alternative you suggest. I do, however, appreciate how rigid the body feels and would prefer that to not be weakened.
Didn't Jobs say that 1024x768 ought to be enough for everyone! /joke
Uh, yeah, tee hee. That joke realy only gets better with age.
Still though, I hope the next time somebody claims the 'leaks' are coming from Apple's marketing dept remember the not-retina-display of the iPad 2.
It looks neat, but they didn't quite sell me on upgrading from my iPad 1. I really wanted that retina display.
Being a monopoly is making them more and more corrupt, and by being the gatekeeper, they now own too much of the internet.
What?
You didn't get that?
If it did, Apache would receive the greater attention from the mal-intentioned than IIS, by far.
That argument assumes all attacks have the same intention. Notice Firefox has been getting more attention in recent months.
Tee hee
Love always,

Quit trolling.

Nice Slashvertisement - note the user's profile link, and the site both in-article links point to.
We like blinkie things that cost money. When isn't there a Slashvertisement?
Slashdot serves ads.
What are these "ads" of which you speak?
Oh, are you the one that turned them off for everybody?
Yeah, great. So compact, it comes with a bag to carry it all.
So are you recommending this or did you just do a google search?
We hate social services that require having friends. We love arguing about correlation and causation. Slashdot serves ads.
I've dealt with a good deal less ego in this career than I did working at web startups back in the dot-com days.
That's because successful actors don't have to wear the bridle of not actually having made any money yet...
That's an odd response to what I said. I'm not Hollywood's biggest talent agent.
Can't say I've heard of that, and I work in an industry that's pretty Mac heavy.
Of course I'm probably jinxing myself. ;)

I even have a picture of myself and Linus
You do realize you just said you're the goatse guy, right?

How sad
Yeah, as a Slashdotter, I don't get many opportunities to call somebody else's love-life sad.
We demand an immediate refund of every cent we paid for our gmail service.
Sarcasm noted, but I do wonder how much money Google has made from serving me ads based on my usage of GMail. Ad supported != free.
