Sorry, Blackberry has the iPhone beat. The Treo does, too. You're free to disagree but both those phones were not only popular in office settings, but many prominent characters on TV had them. The iPhone, however, had broader appeal.
The worst part is that the elements described in the article aren't anything Apple 'invented'. The iPhone was neat when it launched, but it bad plenty of predecessors, some even by Microsoft. There is no reason the iPhone even needs to be in this article unless there's a mass delusion that it was the first smartphone.
Oh man you're funny. A handful of Mac users having always looked down on window users.
Bitch slapping them with a news story about malware is going to keep this war pointlessly perpetuated by giving me a very-long-awaited piece of ammo. ^_^
This really depends on your approach. You could go the Apple route and say you love your product. The problem is people can spot this really easily and they may out you as a shill. You might instead try the Google approach and say you hate the lead competitor's product. Your followers won't realize they're shilling for you because they'll feel righteous. The best part is the ensuing flame war will fuel itself!

Every time I chuckle at a story like this I can't help but wonder how much of a Grade-A Moron I look like to my mechanic or to any other service provider I use when I'm outside of my comfort zone.
We really do need to be careful about associating understanding of the blinky lights with intelligence.
If you think people with cellphones are dangerous, wait until they start wearing these while driving.
Oh.. I dunno, there's definitely an appeal for having the "Turn Right!" indicator flash in their field of vision instead of having to look away towards their GPS.
Editors stay in your lane. There is nothing relevant in this case to tech, or nerd issues.
Really? I thought there was an interesting lesson for nerds here: Get your news from more than one source.
This lesson even applies in the Great Slashdot Smartphone OS War. We've seen omission due to bias a number of times on this site yet we still continue to fall for it. Lots of people shouting RTFA!! It'd be nice if we could look at this story where we're not standing on either side of a line, flipping the bird, and learn from it.
Until this site transforms from being a debate forum to an area of discussion, stories like this are totally relevant.
It was his vision and it all started after his return.
You could make the same argument about George Lucas. When you liked Star Wars, it was Lucas and not McQuarrie, Kirshner, or Muren , and when the prequels came out it was Lucas and not Church or Tzu that took the blame. I realize the word 'Insightful' appears next to your post if you take Jobs down a notch, but that doesn't change the fact that if he didn't return, millions of households across the US woukd be very different today. This is inescapable no matter which word associated with him you redefine.
If you really think Steve wasn't that B of D, then you have to say Bill Gates wasn't, either. Go ahead, perjure yourself anonymously in case somebody wants to spend a mod-point on you. Educate me on how Steve wasn't really that involved even though his success was legendarily unique. The worst case scenario is I eat some humble pie and learn something in the process, I'll take those odds.
Actually, what happened to all the dumb April Fools sotries? I wanted to continue my twelve year tradition of pointing out to the noisy whiners that they do it every year!
What does Apple's restrictions on their app store have to do with internet freedom?
Seconded!

I think you're right.

FTFY.
*Sigh*... I will never understand bistromathematics.
Funny how this exact same complaint is +5 Insightful when the story takes place in the USA!
Um, excuse me, but this is a world site, not a Canada-centric site. Boy this place stinks, amirite?
Blimey. Ever since that lemon tree incident you guys have been so bitter.
How would you deal with this?

Because we happily vote them in, but never fire them.
Eugene.

you spend a lot of time looking at your dick in the bathroom?
Those of us that don't sit down have to aim.
...they looked like regular shades and not some "I am a geek" fashion statement.
Yeah, those would really clash with your 'Porkchop Sandwhiches" T-shirt.
Please stop, this is not news for nerds.

Don't be insensitive, ghosts were people, too.
So?
I wish I had something meaningful or interesting to add, but I don't. I just wanted to say I appreciate your post.

I'd explain why to you, but I don't feel like going over the history of the iMac, iTunes, the iPod, iPhone, and the iPad.
Waaaah waaah, boo hoo, your precious Slashdot is only running 364 days out of the year. Whiiiiiiiiiinneeee
If you find the right spot in Iowa you can see a starship under construction.

Now I'm being the whiner. :(
